MTV Unplugged is the name of the first live album by Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin. It was released to the market in CD and DVD formats by Sony BMG Norte on November 7,2006. It has been certified platinum and gold worldwide.
MTV Unplugged was taped on August 17,2006 in Miami. It premiered on MTV Latin America,MTV Tr3s and MTV Puerto Rico in October 2006. This album includes Puerto Rican influences,particularly "Tu Recuerdo" (based mainly on a Puerto Rican "aguinaldo jíbaro", [4] and finishing with an "aguinaldo orocoveño" [5] ) and "Pégate",a Puerto Rican plena. Christian Nieves plays the Puerto Rican cuatro on both tracks.
The album was re-released as a CD and DVD combo-package in May 2007. An exclusive Wal-Mart packaging was made available with the original CD purchase and a DVD titled "The Making of Ricky Martin MTV Unplugged",which includes a 40-minute behind the scenes documentary and the music video to "Tu Recuerdo". The music video for "Tu Recuerdo" is just an extracted live performance of the song from MTV Unplugged.
In the United States,MTV Unplugged debuted at number one on the Top Latin Albums and number thirty-eight on the Billboard 200,with first week sales of 29,000 copies. It has also charted inside top ten in Argentina,Spain and Mexico.
MTV Unplugged was certified 2×Platinum Latin award in the United States,Diamond in Mexico,2×Platinum in Argentina,and Gold in Spain. In the US,it has sold over 197,000 copies. [6]
Three new tracks on the album included:"Tu Recuerdo",which topped the Hot Latin Songs for three weeks and peaked at number eighty-nine on the Billboard Hot 100;"Pégate",second single that peaked at number eleven on the Hot Latin Songs and number six on the Hot Dance Club Songs and "Con Tu Nombre",which peaked at number forty-seven on the Hot Latin Songs. "Gracias por Pensar en Mi" also received airplay in the United States and Mexico. The album has sold over two million copies worldwide. [7]

Enrique "Ricky" Martín Morales is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and actor. He is known for his musical versatility, with his discography incorporating a wide variety of many elements, such as Latin pop, dance, reggaeton, salsa, and other genres. Born in San Juan, Martin began appearing in television commercials at age nine and began his musical career at twelve, as a member of Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. He began his solo career in 1991 while in Sony Music Mexico, gaining recognition in Latin America with the release of his first two studio albums, Ricky Martin (1991) and Me Amaras (1993), both of which were focused on ballads.
The Music of Puerto Rico has evolved as a heterogeneous and dynamic product of diverse cultural resources. The most conspicuous musical sources of Puerto Rico have primarily included African, Taino Indigenous, and European influences. Puerto Rican music culture today comprises a wide and rich variety of genres, ranging from essentially native genres such as bomba, jíbaro, seis, danza, and plena to more recent hybrid genres such as salsa, Latin trap and reggaeton. Broadly conceived, the realm of "Puerto Rican music" should naturally comprise the music culture of the millions of people of Puerto Rican descent who have lived in the United States, especially in New York City. Their music, from salsa to the boleros of Rafael Hernández, cannot be separated from the music culture of Puerto Rico itself.
Almas del Silencio is the seventh studio album and fifth Spanish-language album recorded by Puerto Rican-American recording artist Ricky Martin. Pausa is the first studio release by Martin since his 2015 studio album, A Quien Quiera Escuchar. Originally planned as a full-length album, Martin changed the concept following the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and his experience with panic attacks. He split the album into two EP's, Pausa which consists of slower songs and ballads and Play which is set to include more up-tempo songs.
