Geography

History

Mainflingen was first mentioned in a document from the year 775. In this and other documents from 793, 796 and 799 it is confirmed that citizens of the municipality Manolfingen bequeathed fields and meadows to the monastery Lorsch. Researchers believe that the name is not derived from the river Main, but from a man named Manolf and his ancestors. [2]

A document confirms that Witch-hunts also occurred in Mainflingen. [2]

As a direct consequence of the Thirty Years' War, Mainflingen and the surrounding communities had suffered severe population losses. [2]

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport on 2 June 1955.

Casio Wave Ceptor Radio watch line from Casio

The Wave Ceptor series is a line of radio-enabled watches by Casio. Wave Ceptor watches synchronise with radio time signals broadcast by various government time services around the world. These signals transmit the time measured by atomic clocks accurate to one second in millions of years. By synchronizing daily with the signals, the Wave Ceptor watches achieve high accuracy, using a quartz crystal to keep time between synchronizations. Some radio watches, including some Wave Ceptors, are solar-powered, supported by a rechargeable battery such a watch should keep perfect time for about ten years with no manual adjustment with regular synchronisation. The display of the models ranges from fully digital, analog and analog-digital. Some later models, described as Hybrid Wave Ceptors, support GPS for information on both time and location, in addition to broadcast signals.
