Marco Secchi is an Italian photographer [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] and photo journalist. [6] [3] [7] He works for Getty Images, [7] worked for Corbis [8] and specializes in political and social events, establishing himself as a significant voice in visual storytelling, capturing pivotal moments and figures across the globe. Secchi was the mind and one of the founding members of the alternative photography collective, #Awakening. Secchi is a native of Venice, Italy [15] , although he has lived most of his youth in Milan, moving later to France, Switzerland, Scotland, The Isle of Scalpay, London [7] [16] and now lives in Slovenia and Hungary. He began his career as a photographer in 1980 and was inspired to do so by other photographers like Tullio Farabola, Gianni Berengo Gardin and Elliott Erwitt. [3] Over the course of his career, he has taken photographs of prominent events and people, including political figures like Pope Francis, [17] sportspeople like LeBron James [18] and Mike Tyson, [19] celebrities like George Clooney, [8] and royalty like Queen Elizabeth II. [3] He has also covered worldwide events like the Costa Concordia disaster, [20] the Bosnian War, [21] and the recent Syrian refugee migration through the Balkans. Secchi is one of the founding members of the alternative photography collective, #Awakening. [22] [23] [24] The group seeks to create social change through photographic art. [25] [26] [27] [28] Secchi is also a photography teacher and offers photography workshops in a variety of places throughout Europe. [29] He works with different camera brands including Fujifilm and Leica [4] [11] [12] [27] and held several photographic exhibitions. [30] His photograph "Bajansenye Abandoned Checkpoint" is part of "The Absence of Paths" Exhibition for the Tunisian Pavilion [31] at the 57th International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale. Additionally, he has compiled few books. One is a book of photographs called The Venice Carnival [32] and the other is a French language guide called Le grand guide de Venise [33] and few of black and white photography.
