A member of the Communist Party,she was elected to represent the Rubtsovsk constituency in the 2021 Russian legislative election,becoming one of the few people to have defeated a candidate of the ruling United Russia party in constituency seats. [1]
In her capacity as a member of parliament,she was placed on the sanctions list of the United Kingdom in relation to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Prusakova has been considered as a possible candidate for her party in the 2024 Russian presidential election. [2]

The All-Russian Political Party "United Russia" is a conservative political party in Russia. As the largest party in the Russian Federation,it holds 325 of the 450 seats in the State Duma as of 2022,having constituted the majority in the chamber since 2007. The party was formed on 1 December 2001 through a merger of Unity,Fatherland –All Russia,and the Our Home –Russia.
