MasterChef Asia is a regional competitive cooking game show based on the original British show MasterChef . The show is produced by Lifetime Asia. A total of 15 home cooks from various regions across Asia (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam) competed in the first season of MasterChef Asia. The show is judged by Hong Kong-born, culinary chef Susur Lee; 3-Michelin starred chef Bruno Ménard; and Singapore-born Audra Morrice, a MasterChef Australia finalist. From the MasterChef kitchen to off-site and overseas challenges, the 15 episodes will culminate in one home-cook winning the title of the first ever MasterChef Asia. [1]

  • 13 remaining contestants are tasked with two challenges - Mystery Box and the Invention Test. In the mystery box challenge, nine ingredients were on offer and the contestants must make a sweet or savory dish featuring at least one of the ingredients. For the Invention Test, Marcus who won the Mystery Box challenge gained an advantage of choosing the core ingredients for everyone to cook with (ginger, garlic or chilies). The challenge was to cook their version of Asian soup in 30 minutes. [2]

  • The remaining 12 contestants were divided into three teams of four and man their own stall at Singapore’s famous Lau Pa Sat (Telok Ayer Market) hawker centre. Each team was tasked to prepare one of the three main ethnic cuisines of Singapore – Malay, Indian and Chinese. As a winner of the Invention Test in Week 3, Marcus gained the advantage of choosing which cuisine he wants to cook, and have chosen Indian cuisine where he also became the team captain. Green team consist of Blanche (Captain), Lennard, Priya and Rico. Red team consist of Vonny (Captain), Jasbir, Ha and Alice. Although the Blue team received the most positive comments from the judges, the Green team took the victory with over 170 votes, Blue team with 131 votes and Red team with 119 votes. Alice was eliminated due to her mistake of choosing Sirloin over Chuck for the 5 Spice Beef dish which the team decided not to serve because it was too dry. [3]

  • In this episode of Masterchef Asia the remaining 11 contestants must re-invent a classic Singaporean dish – Chili Crab. At the beginning of the show, guest chef Eric Teo demonstrated how to cook a classic Chili Crab and the contestants were given 90 minutes to reinvent the dish. By taking inspiration of the dish and combining it with one of her favorite dish, Blanche won the challenge with her Chili Crab version of Guo Bao. Rico was eliminated as he failed to capture the essence of Singaporean Chili Crab which is the sauce. [2]

The pairs are: Leong and Lica, Lennard and Marcus, Blanche and Vonny, Jasbir and Sandrian, Priya and Ha.
Blanche and Vonny is the lowest team of the five, and they face to face with each other in the elimination challenge where they have to cook their best dish in 30 minutes ,using the remaining ingredients in all the 5 fridges at their disposal. In the end, Vonny cook the least impressive dish due to her short crust pastry dish is mainly too sweet and out of balance and was sent home.

The first and inaugural season of the Canadian competitive reality television series MasterChef Canada, featuring Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung and Claudio Aprile premiered on CTV on January 20, 2014, and concluded on April 28 with Chinese-Canadian chemical engineering university student Eric Chong named the winner. Filming commenced in September 2013 and wrapped up in November 2013. At the age of 21, Eric was the youngest winner of MasterChef Canada at the time of his victory, a record he held the record until Beccy Stables became the champion of the show's fifth season at age 19.

The second season of the Canadian competitive reality television series MasterChef Canada premiered on CTV on February 1, 2015 and concluded on May 24. Filming began in September 2014 and wrapped up in November 2014. Portuguese-Canadian concrete contractor David Jorge won this season. MasterChef Vietnam 2015 is the third season of the reality TV show MasterChef Vietnam. The original MasterChef program was developed by BHD Company in United Kingdom with Vietnam Television buying copyright and implementation. Unlike most series around the world, local celebrities will compete for prize money along with amateur cooks. Christine Ha, the first blind and Asian winner for season 3 of US version of Master Chef became the third judge, having been a guest judge in the previous two series and in MasterChef US season 4 and MasterChef US season 6. The fourth season of the American competitive reality television series MasterChef Junior premiered on Fox on November 6, 2015 and concluded on January 29, 2016. Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliot returned as judges. Christina Tosi replaced Joe Bastianich as the third judge.

The third season of MasterChef Canada originally aired on February 14, 2016 and concluded on June 19. Filming began in September 2015 and ended in November 2015. Torontonian Mary Berg won this season to become the first female winner of MasterChef Canada. Following her victory, Berg pursued her passion for food through catering, confections, recipe development and as a cooking expert on CTV's Your Morning, The Social, and The Marilyn Denis Show. Berg also guest starred in episodes of seasons four, five and seven. She has since hosted her own original cooking television shows, Mary's Kitchen Crush (2019-2020) and Mary Makes It Easy (2021–present) for CTV and CTV Life Channel.

The fourth season of MasterChef Canada originally premiered on March 3, 2017 on CTV before concluding on June 1. In the United States, this season started showing on The Cooking Channel on October 10, 2017. In the finale, Trevor Connie was announced as the winner of the season. The first season of MasterChef Singapore began airing on 2 September 2018 and ended on 21 October 2018 on Mediacorp Channel 5.

MasterChef Latino is an American competitive cooking reality television series based on the British series MasterChef. It aired on Telemundo from January 14, 2018 to August 11, 2019, for 2 seasons. It was on hiatus for three years until February 10, 2022, when a revival of the series began airing on Estrella TV. The series follows amateur and home chefs competing against one another for the title of MasterChef.

Season 6 of the Indian Hindi-language competitive reality TV series MasterChef India – Hindi premiered on Star Plus on 7 December 2019 and concluded on 1 March 2020.

The seventh season of MasterChef Canada, titled MasterChef Canada: Back to Win, premiered on February 14, 2021 on CTV and concluded on May 16, 2021. Filmed in June 2020, this is an all-star season, featuring returning contestants from previous seasons.

The second season of MasterChef Singapore began airing on 21 February 2021 and ended on 25 April 2021 on Mediacorp Channel 5.

<i>MasterChef India – Tamil</i> (season 1) Season of television series

Season 1 of the Indian Tamil-language competitive cooking reality TV series MasterChef India – Tamil which premiered on 7 August 2021 on Sun TV. The show is hosted by actor and producer Vijay Sethupathi, while professional chefs Harish Rao, Aarthi Sampath and Koushik S serve as judges for this season. Shali Nivekas was the guest host for episode 11 instead of Vijay Sethupathi due to the celebration episode of Vinayaka Chaturti.
