Matterfall is a side-scrolling shooter game with platforming elements. [1] [2] The game is set on a futuristic science fiction world that has been infected by an alien material known as "Smart Matter". [1] The player takes control of Avalon Darrow who dons an armoured battle suit. [1] [2] Darrow can jump, dodge, and blast aliens. [1] [2] Darrow can also create platforms to explore the environment and generate shields to deflect attacks of enemies. [2]
Matterfall was developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game was announced in October 2015 during Paris Games Week. [3] It was released for PlayStation 4 on 15 August 2017 in North America and in Europe on the following day. [1] [2] Sony offered a copy of the game's soundtrack and a PlayStation 4 theme as a pre-order incentive for Matterfall. [2]

Matterfall received "mixed or average" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator Metacritic. [4] In Game Informer 's Reader's Choice Best of 2017 Awards, the game came in fourth place each for "Best Sony Game" and "Best Action Game". [13] It was also nominated for "Arcade Game" at The Independent Game Developers' Association Awards 2017, [14] and for "Control Design, 2D or Limited 3D" at the 17th Annual National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers Awards. God of War is an action-adventure game franchise created by David Jaffe at Sony's Santa Monica Studio. It began in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 (PS2) video game console and has become a flagship series for PlayStation, consisting of nine installments across multiple platforms. Based on ancient mythologies, the story follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior and later the Greek God of War, who was tricked into killing his family by his former master, the original Greek God of War Ares. Shadow of the Colossus is a 2018 action-adventure video game developed by Bluepoint Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. It is a remake of the original game developed by Team Ico and released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, using ultra-high definition art assets. The remake's development was led by Bluepoint, who developed the earlier PlayStation 3 remaster, with assistance from Japan Studio. The developers remade the assets from the ground up, but Shadow of the Colossus retains the same gameplay from the original title aside from the introduction of a new control scheme. The game received critical acclaim.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a 2018 platform video game developed by Japan Studio's Team Asobi division and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4's PlayStation VR headset. It stars a cast of robot characters first introduced in The Playroom, where they appeared as robots that lived inside of the DualShock 4 controller. In the game, the player teams up with Captain Astro and goes on a quest to rescue his lost crew scattered across different worlds. The game received positive reviews from critics, who praised the game's use of the DualShock 4 and its varied level design.
