Michael Jurgens (born January 1, 2000) is an American football center for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and was selected by the Vikings in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft.

Early life and college career

Jurgens was born on January 1, 2000, and grew up in Damascus, Maryland. [1] He attended Damascus High School where he was team captain and was a top offensive lineman, helping the team go 42–0 in his career. [2] He was named first-team All-Met, All-State, and the team offensive lineman of the year as a junior, and then was first-team All-Met and the MCPS Coaches 3A-2A Player of the Year as a senior. [2] He played at the Maryland Crab Bowl all-star game and set Damascus records for single-game, season and career pancake blocks. [2] He committed to play college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as a three-star recruit. [2]

Jurgens redshirted as a true freshman at Wake Forest in 2018 while appearing in two games. [2] [3] He then played 13 games in 2019, and started eight games in 2020 while playing center. [2] In 2021, he started all 13 games at center and helped them to 11 wins which included a Gator Bowl victory, earning honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors. [4] He again started all 13 games in 2022 and repeated as an honorable mention All-ACC selection. [2] He opted to return for a final season in 2023. [5] He was team captain and was chosen second-team All-ACC in his last year. [6]

Mills was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1996 season as a special teams captain. He played college football for Wake Forest Demon Deacons, where he was an Alpha Sigma Phi. Mills is currently an outside linebacker coach for Clear Lake High School, in Houston, Texas. John Henry Mills was a four-year letterman at tight end under head coach Bill Dooley. Mills is Wake's all-time leading receiver among tight ends with 142 receptions for 1,652 yards. A three-time All-ACC first-team selection from 1990 through 1992, he finished third in the ACC in receptions in 1990 with 46 and led the league in 1991 with 51. Against Duke in 1990, he caught 12 passes for 230 yards, still the second-most receiving yards in a game in school history.
