Michael William Perry is the host, of the Perry & The Posse show on KSSK-FM in Honolulu, Hawaii. He also hosts the Hawaiian Moving Company television show on KGMB in Honolulu.

Biography

Perry was born in Michigan, but grew up in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C., working in the Pentagon. In 1969, he received a B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University, then served as a Navy Lieutenant in the Pacific Submarine Force. [1] [2]

Perry launched his radio career during his last two years of college. As he recalls, "I was a disc jockey by night, a student by day." In 1972, he moved to Hawaii, joining KKUA and later KSSK (known as K59 at the time), working the afternoon drive-time slot. [2] After Hal "Aku" Lewis died in 1983, KSSK moved Perry to the morning slot and paired him with Larry Price. [1] [3]

The Hawaiian Moving Company

The Hawaiian Moving Company had started as a disco dance show hosted by radio personality Kamasami Kong before switching to an entertainment magazine format with Perry as host and executive producer. The first segment he taped was an interview with Tom Selleck and John Hillerman on the set of "Magnum, P.I.", which aired for eight years. [1] [2]

Other Shows

Other shows that Perry has been on include One West Waikiki, Jake and the Fatman , Baywatch Hawaii and the mini-series Blood and Orchids. [1] In the 1999 film Molokai: The Story of Father Damien , Perry had a small role as royal physician Georges Phillipe Trousseau. [4]

<i>Father Damien</i> (Escobar)

The Father Damien Statue, also called the Saint Damien of Molokaʻi Statue, is the centerpiece of the entrance to the Hawaiʻi State Capitol and the Hawaiʻi State Legislature in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. A second bronze cast is displayed in the National Statuary Hall Collection in the United States Capitol, along with the Kamehameha Statue. The landmark memorializes the famous Hawaiʻi Catholic Church priest from Belgium who sacrificed his life for the lepers of the island of Molokaʻi. Father Damien is considered one of the preeminent heroes of Hawaiʻi, and was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2009. Cast in bronze, the statue depicts Father Damien in his later years after being diagnosed with the disease of those he attended. Much attention was given to the recreation of the disfiguring scars on the priest's face and his arm hanging from a sling.

KGMB, virtual channel 5, is a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. The station is owned by Gray Television, as part of a de facto triopoly with NBC affiliate KHNL and Kailua-Kona-licensed Telemundo affiliate KSIX-TV. Marianne Cope

Marianne Cope, also known as Saint Marianne of Molokaʻi, was a German-born American religious sister who was a member of the Sisters of St Francis of Syracuse, New York, and founding leader of its St. Joseph's Hospital in the city, among the first of 50 general hospitals in the country. Known also for her charitable works, in 1883 she relocated with six other sisters to Hawaiʻi to care for persons suffering leprosy on the island of Molokaʻi and aid in developing the medical infrastructure in Hawaiʻi. Despite direct contact with the patients over many years, Cope did not contract the disease.

John M. Systermans was born Jean-Marie Systermans, but was better known as Father Henry Systermans or Pater Henri Systermans. He was a 20th-century Belgian-born missionary and priest with the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. He served for most of his life in Hawaii most notably during the 1950s at the leper colony at Kalaupapa on Molokai. His service there followed in the tradition of fellow Belgian priest, Saint Damien, and his contributions were part of the research gathered by Gavan Daws for the definitive biography Holy Man: Father Damien of Molokai.

Perry & The Posse is a morning radio show which airs six days a week on KSSK (AM) and KSSK-FM in Honolulu, Hawaii. Earl McDaniel was an American disc jockey, actor, promoter, talent manager, and radio executive.

Kamasami Kong is an American disc jockey living in Tokyo. He is active in Japan and Taiwan as well as Hawaii with the radio program "The Kong Show" on KKUI and KIKI. He is also known for narrating for various city pop albums, such as for Toshiki Kadomatsu, Tatsuro Yamashita, and Omega Tribe.
