Michael Wawuyo Sr is a Ugandan actor and special effects artist. He is notable for his big screen roles on Last King of Scotland , [2] Kony: Order from Above , The Only Son , Sometimes in April , The Mercy of the Jungle and small screen roles on NTV's Yat Madit and Power of Legacy .

Career

Wawuyo broke into the film scene when he played a terrorist soldier in a 1991 Mira Nair directed film Mississippi Masala. He went on to play mostly soldier roles such as an intelligence security officer in Black Blood, a military commander in a 2005 history-period HBO TV Movie film Sometimes in April about the Rwandan genocide of 1994 and an air force commander in The Last King of Scotland, a 2016 Hollywood film about the former Ugandan president Idi Amin. [3] [4] He has also acted in many local and regional films like The Mercy of the Jungle, Situka, Kony: Order from Above, The Only Son and The Boda Boda Thieves (Abaabi Ba Booda). He debuted his television role as Achan, on NTV's Yat Madit in 2016. He then played Mr. Batte, the patriarch of the Batte family and the CEO of the family business in a 2019 television series Power of Legacy. He also did work as a special effects and make up artist on films that include The Felista's Fable, for which he received his first nomination at the 2nd Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards in 2014, The Mercy of the Jungle in 2018 and Imbabazi: The Pardon of 2013. Beneath The Lies is a Ugandan television drama-mystery series created by Nana Kagga Macpherson and starring Flavia Tumusiime, Natasha Sinayobye, Gaetano Kagwa, Hellen Lukoma, Rabadaba, Deedan Muyira, Cedric Babu Ndilima, Patrick Salvado Idringi and Susan Naava as regular cast members. Yat Madit is a Ugandan drama television series that premiered on NTV Uganda on December 8, 2016 and stars award-winners from Uganda Film Festival, including Michael Wawuyo (Senior), Michael Wawuyo Jr., Nisha Kalema, the muti-talented Rehema Nanfuka, Oyenbot and Patriq Nkakalukanyi.

The Hostel is a Ugandan drama series created by Sabiiti "MMC" Moses and Emanuel "BUUBA" Egwel about the lives of university students in their hostels. The show premiered on NTV Uganda in 2011 and ran for four seasons. The fourth season which was titled Serenity saw a fresh new cast and in a new hostel. The season premiered on 23 February 2015.

5 @Home sometimes 5 at Home is a Ugandan drama television series starring Raymond Rushabiro, Tumusiime Nicole, Jovan Lugave, Alen Komujuni and Arinaitwe Ramadhan that premiered on Fox Life in July 2017.

Gladys "G'dah" Oyenbot is a Ugandan actress, singer and producer professionally known by her mononym Oyenbot. The Mercy of the Jungle is a 2018 internationally co-produced film from Rwandan director Joël Karekezi. It tells the story of two Rwandan soldiers separated from their military unit at the beginning of the Second Congo War and their struggle to survive in a hostile jungle environment amidst intense armed conflict.

Sarah Ssentongo Kisauzi is a Ugandan actress most known for her role as Nalweyiso, the mean mother-in-law, in the 2013 NTV television drama series Deception.

<i>Kony: Order from Above</i> 2017 film

Kony: Order from Above is a 2017 Ugandan war film directed by Steve T. Ayeny. It was initially reported as being the Ugandan entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. However, it was later confirmed as not being selected as it could not meet the mandatory minimum requirements. It would have been Uganda's first ever submission to the Oscars. It also received a nomination for Best Feature Film and Cinematography at the 2017 Uganda Film Festival Awards

<i>Power of Legacy</i>

Power of Legacy is a Ugandan drama television series created by Edris Matu Segawa and directed by George Kihumbah. It stars Tania Shakirah Kankindi, Sarah Kisawuzi, Jonan Kisibo, Michael Wawuyo, Housen Mushema as the main cast. The series’ first season premiered on 31 March 2019 on NTV Uganda and the second season premiered September 8, 2019 and aired two episodes per week.

The Honourables is a Ugandan political satire-drama series that premiered on NTV Uganda on 9 January 2017, starring Hellen Lukoma, Symon Base Kalema, Aisha Kyomuhangi, Philip Luswata, Malaika, Doreen Mirembe, Candy Mutesi, Patricko Mujuuka and singer Stecia Mayanja. The series which was also later picked up by Pearl Magic in 2018 exposes the vices of MPs and other government officials who frequent a local bar in Kampala, showing their greed, corruption, adultery and many other vices.

Milka Irene Soobya is a Ugandan actress and politician most known for her breakout role as Monica on NTV Uganda's drama series Deception and as Fifi Aripa on Power of Legacy. She contested for the Woman Member of Parliament for Jinja after Jinja received city status.

Aisha "Lady Aisha" Kyomuhangi is a Ugandan actress, singer and producer. She has starred in numerous stage productions including Kigenya Agenya. She is also a member of Bakayimbira Dramactors, one of Uganda's oldest stage drama groups.

Abby Mukiibi Nkaaga is a Ugandan multi-award winning actor, comedian, director producer and radio personality, recognised for theatre plays, film, television and radio. He is the founder of a Afri Talent, a Ugandan drama group and veteran radio presenter at 88.8 CBS in Kampala. He has played mostly military roles in films like The Last King of Scotland (film) (Masanga), Sometimes in April, The Silent Army and The Mercy of the Jungle (Major). He was listed #1 on the list of the best ten Ugandan comedians by Big Eye in 2015.
