The Australian honours and awards system refers to all orders,decorations,and medals,as instituted by letters patent from the Monarch of Australia and countersigned by the Australian prime minister at the time,that have been progressively introduced since 14 February 1975. The Australian honours and awards system excludes all state and local government,and private,issued awards and medals.

Sir Harry Talbot Gibbs was Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia from 1981 to 1987 after serving as a member of the High Court between 1970 and 1981. He was known as one of Australia's leading federalist judges although he presided over the High Court when decisions such as Koowarta v Bjelke-Petersen in 1982 and Commonwealth v Tasmania expanded the powers of the Commonwealth at the expense of the states. Gibbs dissented from the majority verdict in both cases. On 3 August 2012,the Supreme Court of Queensland Library opened the Sir Harry Gibbs Legal Heritage Centre. It is the only legal heritage museum of its kind in Queensland and features a permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of Sir Harry Gibbs.
South Australia Police (SAPOL) is the police force of the Australian state of South Australia. SAPOL is an independent statutory agency of the Government of South Australia directed by the Commissioner of Police,who reports to the Minister for Police. SAPOL provides general duties policing,highway patrol,criminal investigation and emergency coordination services throughout the state. SAPOL is also responsible for road safety advocacy and education,and maintains the South Australian Road Safety Centre.

Lieutenant General Sir Eric Winslow Woodward was an Australian military officer and viceroy. Following long service in the Australian Army,including terms as Deputy Chief of the General Staff and General Officer Commanding Eastern Command,he was appointed as the Governor of New South Wales from 1957 to 1965,thus becoming the first New South Welshman to be governor of the state.

Andrew Phillip Scipione,is a former police officer who served as Commissioner of the New South Wales Police Force,succeeding Ken Moroney on 31 August 2007. He retired from the New South Wales Police Force on 31 March 2017. He was farewelled with a guard of honour and was marched out by 100 of his fellow officers. His replacement as commissioner was Mick Fuller.
