The Mickens House is a historic house located at 801 4th Street in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is locally significant as one of the oldest surviving residences in West Palm Beach.

West Palm Beach is a city in and the county seat of Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It is located immediately to the west of the adjacent Palm Beach, which is situated on a barrier island across the Lake Worth Lagoon. The population was 99,919 at the 2010 census. Description and history

The building is basically an American four square in plan and design. Distinguishing features include a front porch which spans the first floor of the main elevation and the awnings which shield each window opening and the porch.

On April 11, 1985, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a contributing property to the Northwest Historic District.

Northwest Historic District United States historic place

The Northwest Historic District is a U.S. historic district located in West Palm Beach, Florida. The district is bounded by Tamarind Avenue, Eleventh Street, Rosemary Avenue and 3rd Street. It contains 316 historic buildings. The West Palm Beach Community Development Agency has targeted the area, and is restructuring Tamarind Avenue and 7th Streets. They are also restoring the Sunset Lounge, called the "Cotton Club of the South", one of the few remaining venues on the Chitlin' Circuit.

Gustav Adam Maass Jr. (1893–1964) was an American architect working primarily in the Mediterranean Revival style who designed public buildings and private homes in and around Palm Beach, Florida, from the 1920s until his death in 1964.

Holden House United States historic place

The Holden House, located at 204 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell, Florida, was built in 1918 by Samuel Merwin Bortree (1859-1918) as a wedding gift for his daughter Ethel Lura Bortree Holden (1892-1977), and her husband Thomas Edward Holden (1892-1974). It is an excellent example of the Craftsman Bungalow architectural style. The house was purchased by Flagler County for $40,000 on August 6, 1979 from a Holden family member. It is now a museum that features artifacts from Flagler County and the general Florida area dating from the St. Johns Culture to the present. It is also the headquarters for the Flagler County Historical Society. The house's upstairs bathroom was one of the first indoor bathrooms in the Bunnell area and features unique small hexagon tiles on the floor which were similar to the flooring design used in the original owner's pharmacy building which is no longer extant and was located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Moody Boulevard and U.S. 1 in Bunnell. The Holden House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 2018.
