Michael "Micko" Joseph Larkin (born 13 October 1986) is an English musician, most notable as the lead guitarist of the indie rock band Larrikin Love and reformed Hole.
Larkin was born in Hammersmith to Irish parents. In 2005, he formed the short-lived Larrikin Love with vocalist Edward Larrikin, bassist Alfie Ambrose and drummer, Coz Kerrigan. The band was described in NME magazine as part of the fictional "Thamesbeat scene",[ clarification needed ] and released one album during their career, The Freedom Spark and six singles. Larrikin Love disbanded on 4 May 2007, [1] after the group's members began to embark on other musical projects.
After Larrikin Love's split, Larkin moved to Los Angeles to work with former Hole frontwoman, Courtney Love. Mairead Nash, manager of indie pop groups, Florence + the Machine, and Queens of Noize recommended Larkin to Love in June 2007, [2] and after his audition became lead guitarist of Love's solo group, unofficially titled The Courtney Love Band. Larkin joined Love's band alongside bassist Patricia "Pato" Vidal, [3] drummer Stu Fisher, [4] pianist Bethia Beadman, and rhythm guitarist Liam Wade. [5] Love and the band embarked on a short tour of the United Kingdom in 2007, including one additional date in Paris, France, in July 2007.
On 17 June 2009, Love and Larkin announced the reunion of Love's former band Hole via an NME webblog. [6] Larkin replaced former guitarist and Hole co-founder Eric Erlandson on lead guitar. In the following months, Erlandson and former bassist, Melissa Auf der Maur claimed no reunion could take place due to a contract Love and Erlandson signed in 2002 after the band's initial split which stated that the name Hole could not be used by either without mutual involvement. Despite this, Hole's reunion proceeded. Hole's fourth studio album, Nobody's Daughter , featured Larkin on lead guitar, as co-producer and as main co-writer on four tracks, also adding additional parts to previously-written songs such as "Pacific Coast Highway" and "Samantha."[ citation needed ]
On 29 November 2012, Love stated on her Twitter account for her upcoming clothing line: "From now on [the band is called Courtney], Hole is dead", implying that she was abandoning the Hole moniker and returning to performing as a solo artist, with Larkin, bassist Shawn Dailey and drummer Scott Lipps as her backing band. [7] She planned to release a new album, titled Died Blonde, in the winter of 2013. [8]

Celebrity Skin is the third studio album by American alternative rock band Hole, released on September 8, 1998, in the United States on DGC Records and internationally on Geffen Records. It was the last album released by the band before their dissolution in 2002. Hole intended for the record to diverge significantly from their previous noise and grunge-influenced sound as featured on Pretty on the Inside (1991) and Live Through This (1994). The band hired producer Michael Beinhorn to record Celebrity Skin over a nine-month period that included sessions in Los Angeles, New York City, and London. It was the band's only studio release to feature bassist Melissa Auf der Maur. Drummer Patty Schemel played on the demos for the album but was replaced by session drummer Deen Castronovo at the suggestion of Beinhorn. This issue created a rift between Schemel and the band, resulting in her dropping out of the tour and parting ways with the group, though she was still credited.
Live Through This is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band Hole, released on April 12, 1994, by DGC Records. Recorded in late 1993, it departed from the band's unpolished hardcore aesthetics to more refined melodies and song structure. Frontwoman Courtney Love said that she wanted the record to be "shocking to the people who think that we don't have a soft edge", but maintain a harsh sensibility. The album was produced by Sean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderie and mixed by Scott Litt and J Mascis. The lyrics and packaging reflect Love's thematic preoccupations with beauty, and motifs of milk, motherhood, anti-elitism, and violence against women, while Love derived the album title from a quote in Gone with the Wind (1939).

At the urging of her friend and former producer Linda Perry, Love began writing material while in a lockdown rehabilitation center in 2005 following a protracted cocaine addiction and numerous related legal troubles. In 2006, Love, along with Perry and Billy Corgan, began recording the album, which at that time was tentatively titled How Dirty Girls Get Clean.

Prior to becoming a member of Hole, Fisher was also the drummer of English psychedelic rock band Ozric Tentacles and also Fingermonster.
