Mike Belitsky is a Canadian musician. He has played drums for a number of bands, including Jellyfishbabies, Jale, Neko Case, and Pernice Brothers, [1] and later The Sadies.

Early life

Belitsky was born in Toronto, Ontario. [2] He attended Concordia University in Montreal. [3]

Career

Belitsky left Concordia in 1987 to join the band Jellyfishbabies, who relocated to Toronto. [3] He later moved to Halifax, drumming in punk bands. [4] In 1996 he became a member of the band Jale, and drummed on their second album, So Wound. A year later he performed at the New York Pop Explosion festival with the band Cheticamp. [5]

By 2004 he was playing with the band Unintended, [6] as well as The Sadies. [7]

In 2013 he joined the band The New Mendicants. He toured Spain with the group in 2014, [8] and drummed on their 2014 album Into the Lime. [9]

In 2018 Belitsky injured his shoulder while ice skating, and was unable to perform for several months. [10] Since that time he has continued to play in The Sadies, The Unintended and The New Mendicants. [11]

Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet are a Juno Award-winning Canadian instrumental rock band, formed in 1984. They remain best known for the track "Having an Average Weekend", which was used as the theme to the Canadian sketch comedy TV show The Kids in the Hall. Although commonly classified as a surf rock band they rejected the label, going so far as to release a track called "We're Not a Fucking Surf Band", although they also later released a compilation box set titled Oh, I Guess We Were a Fucking Surf Band After All.

Treble Charger is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Greig Nori, vocalist and guitarist Bill Priddle, bassist Rosie Martin and drummer Richard Mulligan. They began with a melodic indie rock style but evolved into more of a pop punk band after signing to a major label in 1997. They disbanded in 2006 and reunited in 2012. Between 1996 and 2016, Treble Charger was among the Top 150 selling Canadian artists in Canada.

The Sadies

The Sadies are a Canadian rock and roll / country and western band from Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Dallas Good, Travis Good, Sean Dean and Mike Belitsky. Dallas and Travis are the sons of Margaret and Bruce Good, and nephews of Brian and Larry Good, who are members of the Canadian country group The Good Brothers.

King Cobb Steelie is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 1991 from Guelph, Ontario, and later based in Toronto. The band's most successful single was 1997's "Rational", from the album Junior Relaxer. Their music fuses elements of punk, grunge, funk, jazz and dance. The core of the band is singer/songwriter Kevan Byrne and bassist Kevin Lynn. A variety of other collaborators, including Sam Cino, Al Okada, Gary Dutch, Geoff Walton, Steve Clarkson, Mike Armstrong, Nathan Lawr, Don Pyle and Michelle McAdorey, have contributed to individual albums.

Frederick John Elgersma, known by the stage name Fred Eaglesmith, is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter. He is known for writing songs about vehicles, rural life, down-and-out characters, lost love and quirky rural folk. His songwriting uses techniques of short story writing, including unreliable narrators, surprise endings, and plot twists. In 2016, Eaglesmith toured extensively with his band.

<i>Coast to Coast Fever</i> US folk rock music recording album

Coast to Coast Fever is the third solo album by Canadian singer-songwriter David Wiffen. He is assisted on the album by fellow Canadian folkie Bruce Cockburn, who plays guitar, bass and celeste, and also produced the album. The best-known tracks are "Skybound Station", "Coast to Coast Fever", "Smoke Rings", "We Have Had Some Good Times" and "Lucifer's Blues". Seven of the ten songs were written by Wiffen.

The Unintended is a Canadian indie supergroup, consisting of Dallas Good, Travis Good, Sean Dean and Mike Belitsky of The Sadies, Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo and Rick White of Eric's Trip and Elevator. The band's name comes from a lyric in Gordon Lightfoot's "Go-Go Round." Their music was laid-back psychedelic rock with some folky aspects.

The Infinity Tour was a concert tour by the American rock band Journey. The tour was in support of their 1978 album Infinity which peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200.
