The Dallas Independent School District is a school district based in Dallas,Texas (USA). It operates schools in much of Dallas County and is the second-largest school district in Texas and the seventeenth-largest in the United States. It is also known as Dallas Public Schools (DPS).

Wilmer–Hutchins Independent School District (WHISD) was a school district in southern Dallas County,Texas serving the cities of Wilmer and Hutchins,a portion of Dallas,and a small portion of Lancaster. The district served urban,suburban,and rural areas. Some unincorporated areas with Ferris addresses were served by WHISD. It closed in 2006 and was absorbed by the Dallas Independent School District.

Aldine ISD serves the communities of Aldine,most of Greenspoint,most of East Aldine,and portions of Airline,Acres Homes,Kinwood,Bordersville,and Inwood Forest. The district is part of the taxation base for the Lone Star College System. As of 2020,Dr. LaTonya Goffney serves as superintendent of schools.

The district serves the city of Bedford,most of the cities of Euless and Hurst,and small parts of North Richland Hills,Colleyville,Fort Worth,and Arlington. The demographic makeup of Snyder ISD reflects many backgrounds with a minority enrollment accounting for 70% of the student body. Snyder ISD has challenges faced by some of its students,with 49.6% identified as economically disadvantaged. It is located in Scurry County,TX. the district serves students from Kent and Mitchell counties,as well as students from Hermleigh,Ira,and Roby.

Prior to this position,he was Texas Education Agency's Deputy Commissioner for Governance. Yvonne Gonzalez is a former school superintendent,serving in that capacity in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) in 1997 as well as in Santa Fe Public Schools from 1994 to 1996. She also served as interim superintendent of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) in 1994. Her career in education ended after a conviction in federal court for embezzling money from DISD.
F. Mike Miles is the current superintendent of Houston Independent School District. He previously served as the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) from July 1,2012 to June 25,2015,and previously in Colorado Springs,Colorado.
The Houston Independent School District takeover is a 2023 takeover of the state's largest school district by the Texas Education Agency,replacing the superintendent and elected board of trustees with a board of managers and a new superintendent appointed by the Texas commissioner of education.
