Mimi Slinger (born 6 February 2003) is an English actress and model, known for portraying the role of Leanna Cavanagh on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale . In 2021, she was signed to Storm Management.

Early and personal life

Slinger was born on 6 February 2003 in England. [3] At a few months old, her family moved to Singapore where she grew up. [4] She attended the Tanglin Trust School, where she began performing. [5] Then at the age of eleven, Slinger and her family moved back to England. [6] Slinger then began attending the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, [7] as well as attending weekend classes at ArtsEd. [8]

Since 2021, Slinger has dated singer and television presenter, HRVY. In April 2023, they made a red carpet appearance at the Malfy Gin VIP launch party. [9] [10]

Career

Slinger began singing at the age of six and later discovered musical theatre. [6] She made her stage debut in 2014, where she appeared in a production of The Sound of Music , where she portrayed the role of Brigitta von Trapp. [11] In 2017, Slinger made her onscreen debut in Heidi: Queen of the Mountain, in which she portrayed the role of Clara. [12] That same year, she appeared in The Braille Legacy at the Charing Cross Theatre. [13]

In 2018, Slinger began appearing in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale , portraying the role of Leanna Cavanagh. [14] [15] In an interview with Digital Spy, Slinger stated that her character is "a troublemaker and loves the attention that comes with it." [16] In 2021, it was announced that Slinger had been signed by modelling agency Storm Management. [17] She left Emmerdale later that year, [18] but expressed a desire to continue acting on television alongside her modelling ventures. [6] In 2023, she starred in the short film Path to Ecstasy, and later made an appearance in an episode of the Apple war series Masters of the Air . [19] [20]

Leanna is introduced as the troublesome daughter of Liam Cavanagh when producers made the decision to explore Liam's character. Since making her first appearance on 6 March 2018, her storylines in the soap have included her numerous rivalries with her father's partners, her friendship and eventual rivalry with Gabby Thomas, and her on-off relationship with Jacob Gallagher. The character is killed off in the episode airing on 8 July 2021 when she is murdered by Meena Jutla.

Meena Jutla is a fictional character from the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, played by Paige Sandhu. Details surrounding her casting and Meena's characterisation were announced in September 2020 alongside that of two other new characters as part of what Emmerdale described as a "big autumn shake-up". She was introduced as the estranged sister of Manpreet Sharma and arrives in the fictional village with the intention of reconciling her relationship with Manpreet. Upon her casting, Sandhu described her character as irresponsible, apathetic, unreliable, wild and intelligent. Gemma Oaten is an English actress. She is known for playing the role of Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale from 2011 to 2015, for which she received a nomination for the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer. Since leaving Emmerdale, Oaten has made appearances in various television series and films, including Rise of the Footsoldier: The Pat Tate Story, Holby City and Coronation Street. As well as her onscreen roles, Oaten has also starred in various theatre productions across the UK, including stints in Bedroom Farce and Up 'n' Under.
