The Mising Autonomous Council (MAC), (sometimes Mishing), is an autonomous district council for the Mising people in Dhemaji District and Majuli District in the state of Assam in India, with its headquarters at Dhemaji. [2] Its chairman is Paramananda Chayengia, [3] who was elected in 2013, as a member of the inaugural democratically elected executive council of the MAC. [4] [5] [6]

The group comprises Nyishi, Adi, Apatani, Galo, Tagin, and Mising. They are also often referred to as the Tani group.

Miri or Mising, also known as Plains Miri, is a Tani language spoken by the Mising people. There are 629,954 speakers, who inhabit mostly the Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Tinsukia districts of Assam and also some parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The primary literary body of Mising is known as 'Mising Agom Kébang '.

Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is an autonomous district council in the state of Meghalaya in India. It covers West Khasi Hills district, Eastern West Khasi Hills district, East Khasi Hills district and Ri Bhoi district. Mising Baptist Kebang (MBK) is a Baptist churches convention based in Assam, India. It has six associations and is spread across six districts of Assam. It is an associate member of the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India, and has over 116 churches affiliated under MBK with 4,300 members. The MBK is made primarily of Mishing people, an indigenous ethnic group of Assam. The MBK mission center is at Moinapara, Gogamukh in Dhemaji District of Assam state.

The Mising Agom Kébang (MAK) is a non-governmental organisation which aims to preserve and develop the Mising language, a language of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, India. It was established on 18 April 1972 at Disangmukh in the district of Sivasagar, Assam, India. The jurisdiction of MAK is the state of Assam, and it operates through its branches, named Bangke Agom Kébang (BAK).

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is an autonomous district council in the state of Assam, India for development and protection of tribals living in area namely Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district. The council is constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India and administratively functions under the Government of Assam. It was formed with the name Karbi Anglong District Council on 17 November 1951. Later changed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on 23 June 1952, which is now celebrated as its foundation day. After Signing of M.O.U. between Government of India, Government of Assam and United People's Democratic Solidarity, it was renamed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council. It has administrative functions over two district, Karbi Anglong district and West Karbi Anglong district. Its headquarters is in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. The total area of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is 10,434 sq. km having a population of 961,275 as of 2011.
