Mohammed Amin MBE FRSA is a British-Pakistani businessman who was Chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum, an affiliated group within the British Conservative Party, from mid-2014 [1] until June 2019, when he was reported to have been expelled from the group following his public criticism of the 'moral integrity' of Boris Johnson. [2] He resigned from the Conservative Party on 23 July 2019 when Johnson was announced as the new leader as he regarded him as morally unfit to be Party Leader or Prime Minister. [3] [4] He writes regularly about political and community cohesion issues on the ConservativeHome website. [5]
In October 2019 he joined the Liberal Democrats. [6] [7]
Amin is of Pakistani descent has lived in the UK since 1952. [8] He graduated in mathematics from Clare College, Cambridge, then obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Leeds. He is a chartered accountant and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He served on the Council for 12 years, standing down in 2015. In 2005 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. [9]
Amin was the first Muslim partner of Price Waterhouse UK, now PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was elected to PwC's Supervisory Board from 2003 [10] to 2009. Before his retirement at the end of 2009, Amin was PwC's head of Islamic finance in the UK. [11]
Amin is Co-Chair of the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester, [12] Chairman of the Council of the Islam & Liberty Network, [13] and Chair of Donors of the Curriculum for Cohesion. [14] He speaks and writes regularly on Islamic finance and on issues connected with politics and social cohesion. Clare College, Cambridge chose him as its Alumnus of the Year for 2014. [15] He was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List June 2016 "For services to Community Cohesion and Inter-faith Relations in Greater Manchester." [16]
The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (Urdu: پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ن), abbr.PML(N) or PML-N) is a centre-right, conservative political party in Pakistan. It is currently the third-largest party in the Senate. The party was founded in 1993, when a number of prominent conservative politicians in the country joined hands after the dissolution of Islamic Democratic Alliance, under the leadership of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The party's platform is generally conservative, which involves supporting free markets, deregulation, lower taxes and private ownership. Although the party historically supported social conservatism, in recent years, the party's political ideology and platform has become more liberal on social and cultural issues; however, members have been accused of using Islamist populist rhetoric. Alongside the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), it is one of the three major political parties of the country.

Nurul Amin was a Pakistani politician and jurist who served as the eighth prime minister of Pakistan from 7 December to 20 December 1971. His term of only 13 days as prime minister was the shortest served in Pakistani parliamentary history. He was also the only vice president of Pakistan.
Manchester Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre is a mosque in Manchester, England. Sometimes referred to as Jamia Mosque, it is situated in the middle of Victoria Park, Manchester close to the Curry Mile. It plays a key role in Manchester's Muslim community. Imam and Khateeb Hafiz Mueen ud Din Akhtar and Qari Hafiz Javed Akhtar are leaders of the mosque, but left in 2018. Qari Javed also leads taraweeh prayers in Ramadan.

The Conservative Muslim Forum is a group within the British Conservative Party. It aims to increase Conservative Party's knowledge and comprehension of issues and circumstances that have particular relevance to Muslim communities and develop suitable responses. It also seeks to increase support for the Conservative Party within the Muslim community. Anyone who is eligible to vote in British general or local elections regardless of race, colour or creed may become a member of the Conservative Muslim Forum. It will however be necessary for a person applying for membership of the Conservative Muslim Forum to be an existing member of the Conservative Party or apply for such membership simultaneously.

Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, to a British Pakistani family, Nawaz is a former member of the Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir. His membership led to his December 2001 arrest in Egypt, where he remained imprisoned until 2006. While there, he read books about human rights and made contact with Amnesty International who adopted him as a prisoner of conscience. He left Hizb-ut-Tahrir in 2007, renounced his Islamist past, and called for a secular Islam. Later, Nawaz co-founded Quilliam with former Islamists, including Ed Husain.
