Monsignor Farrell High School is an American Catholic high school for boys, located in the Oakwood section of Staten Island, New York.

Contents

Opened in 1961, the school is named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Farrell, a Catholic priest, as well as a religious, political and community leader on Staten Island.

Monsignor Joseph A. Farrell was an Irish-American Catholic priest. He held various positions in the Archdiocese of New York, and was instrumental in the construction of several new parishes in the New York City borough of Staten Island. He became a priest in 1900, and Staten Island's dean of clergy in 1933, and a monsignor in 1935. On Staten Island, he was an early principal of St. Peter's Boys High School.

Starting with the tenth season, the series airs concurrently on TBS.

William Warren Fenley was an American professional basketball player. He spent one season in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) as a member of the Boston Celtics in the 1946–1947 season. Fenley attended Port Richmond High School on the North Shore of Staten Island and later Manhattan College. After his BAA career ended, he founded the school athletic program for his home parish of St. Rita's Church. Fenley became the first head coach for the Monsignor Farrell High School boys' basketball team in 1964, and the first for Moore Catholic High School in 1968. He was a former United States Marine and New York police sergeant.

A special election for New York's 11th congressional district was held on May 5, 2015, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Michael Grimm. Grimm, a member of the Republican Party, announced on December 30, 2014, that he would resign from the House effective January 5, 2015, and not take his seat for a third term following his guilty plea for tax evasion. On May 5, 2015, Republican candidate Dan Donovan defeated his Democratic challenger Vincent Gentile in the election and filled the vacant seat.
