Montgomery station (West Virginia)

Montgomery station is an Amtrak station in Montgomery, West Virginia, served by the Cardinal passenger train. The station is an open metal shed built along platforms previously used by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, which demolished the former brick station house in the 1970s after the company ended passenger service in 1971. The station platform was rebuilt in 2020 to provide greater accessibility. [2]

Charleston station contains a single 800-foot (240 m) concrete side platform and has a station depot that provides a waiting room for customers.

The Amtrak station replaced a Chesapeake and Ohio station on 7th Avenue. The C&O station hosted daily trains headed northwest, west and east: Fast Flying Virginian, George Washington and the Sportsman.

Built in 2017, it follows several other Roanoke passenger stations that operated from the 1850s to 1979. The unstaffed station consists of a single high-level platform with no station building or waiting room available for passengers. All tickets must be purchased in advance; there is no Quik-Trak kiosk at the station.
