Mr. Football Award (Texas)

The Mr. Texas Football Award is an honor given to the top high school football player in the state of Texas, United States. It is awarded by Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine. The award was established in 2007.

Hurts used his final year of eligibility at the University of Oklahoma where he quarterbacked the Oklahoma Sooners to the 2019 Big 12 Conference title and an appearance in the 2019 College Football Playoff. As a freshman there, Ehlinger split playing time with quarterback Shane Buechele before taking over as the starter in 2018, where he led the team to the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game and two bowl games.
