My Latest Novel are a Scottish indie band, from Greenock & Gourock. The band are signed to Bella Union records and released two albums.
A five piece, (consisting of Chris Deveney, Gary Deveney, Paul McGeachy, Laura McFarlane and Ryan King), My Latest Novel are from the small town of Greenock, near Glasgow in Scotland. They augment the traditional rock line up of guitars, drums, bass and keyboards, with the use of violins, xylophones, samples and undulating percussion, as well as multi-part vocals.
The band has toured the UK with Arab Strap, Low, British Sea Power and Joanna Newsom as well as opening for the Pixies at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh. They have also toured the UK and mainland Europe, Australia and U.S independently. They are signed to the British record label Bella Union Records, and in the US with The Worker's Institute both of whom released their debut album Wolves in 2006.
They released their second album, Deaths and Entrances, on 18 May 2009 on Bella Union to much critical acclaim.
My Latest Novel were working on their as yet untitled third album featuring songs with working titles such as "What's the Secret Eugene?", "This Afternoon I Died", "Good Bees/Strong Hives" and "The Weather Song", however the band have taken an extensive break.
As of March 2010, Laura McFarlane and Paul McGeachy have left the band to pursue other projects.
In 2013, remaining members Chris Deveney, Gary Deveney and Ryan King worked under the name Alphabetical Order Orchestra, and recorded tracks with Andy Miller (who they worked with to record Wolves and Deaths & Entrances). They released a four track EP called AOO1 in 2014.
Laura McFarlane played violin for The Twilight Sad on their 2008 mini-album Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did, as well as their 2009 album Forget the Night Ahead. [1]
Chris Deveney sang lead vocals on the Viva Stereo track "Last Living Hope" from their 2008 album Roar, Lion, Roar.
Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. It is now run solely by Raymonde.
Wolves is the debut studio album by Scottish indie rock band My Latest Novel, released on 6 March 2006 on Bella Union/The Worker's Institute. The album is entitled Wolves due to the collaborative nature of the band; vocalist and guitarist Gary Deveney states that the band "write like a pack."

Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters is the debut studio album by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released by FatCat Records on 3 April 2007 in the US, and 7 May 2007 in the UK. The album features production from guitarist Andy MacFarlane and was mixed by Peter Katis. It was recorded over a short period of just three days, and the songs featured were the first ones the band had ever written. The album's influences include Van Dyke Parks, Phil Spector, Daniel Johnston, Arab Strap, Serge Gainsbourg, and Leonard Cohen.
The Twilight Sad is the debut EP by The Twilight Sad, released on 14 November 2006 on Fat Cat Records. The EP was only released on CD in the United States. Regarding its US-only release, former bassist Craig Orzel stated that "the American side of Fat Cat wanted a release to announce our arrival, so they got that. I think the UK side were, initially, more interested in albums than EPs." The EP was mixed by composer and Fat Cat labelmate Max Richter.

The Twilight Sad Killed My Parents and Hit the Road is a compilation album by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released by FatCat Records on 8 December 2008. The compilation is composed of live tracks, covers and previously unreleased material, and was made to "help fund their tour with Mogwai" in late 2008. The compilation was initially limited to 1,000 CD copies only, and was only made available at live shows, in independent record shops, and at FatCat's official website. The CD has not been repressed, but the album was made available digitally shortly after the CD release, and pressed on vinyl for the first time in November 2019.

The album was produced by guitarist Andy MacFarlane and recorded and mixed by Paul Savage at Chem19 Studios in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The album features the singles "I Became a Prostitute", "Seven Years of Letters", and "The Room".
Deaths and Entrances is the second studio album by Scottish indie rock band My Latest Novel, released on 18 May 2009 on Bella Union. The album is named after a Dylan Thomas poem of the same name. Regarding the album's title, the band state:
It’s just a grand title for an album – it gave us something to work towards, expressed much of the sentiment behind what we wanted to do after we’d done with Wolves. The record is brave and ambitious and the title is just that – so we had to write songs that backed that up. I was delighted by the “pulling thunderbolts to shut the sun” bit. It sort of sums up what we were trying to do.

The Wrong Car is an EP by the Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released on 27 September 2010. The EP has two previously unreleased tracks, "The Wrong Car" and "Throw Yourself Into the Water Again", as well as two remixes of tracks from the band's second album Forget the Night Ahead: "The Room" remixed by Mogwai, and "Reflection of the Television" remixed by Errors. In late May 2010, Errors' remix of "Reflection of the Television" was chosen as The Line of Best Fit's "song of the day" and was made available as a free download. In January 2010, The Twilight Sad provided a remix of Errors' song "Bridge or Cloud?", which was posted as a free download on NME's website.
No One Can Ever Know is the third studio album by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released by FatCat Records on 6 February 2012 in the UK, and a day later in the US. The album was produced by the band with assistance and advice from producer Andrew Weatherall, who helped the band in experimenting with analog synthesizers. No One Can Ever Know marks a shift in the band's "wall of sound" approach towards a darker, more industrial-influenced sound. Guitarist Andy MacFarlane describes the album's sound as "sparser... with a colder, slightly militant feel," influenced by artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Can, Public Image Ltd, Fad Gadget, Cabaret Voltaire, Wire, Bauhaus, Magazine and D.A.F.
Dirty Three are an Australian instrumental rock band, consisting of Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White (drums), which formed in 1992. Their 1996 album Horse Stories was voted by Rolling Stone as one of the top three albums of the year. Two of their albums have peaked into the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Ocean Songs (1998) and Toward the Low Sun (2012). During their career they have spent much of their time overseas when not performing together. Turner is based in Melbourne, White lives in New York, and Ellis in Paris. Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane described them as providing a "rumbling, dynamic sound incorporated open-ended, improvisational, electric rock ... minus the jazz-rock histrionics". In October 2010, Ocean Songs was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.

It Won/t Be Like This All the Time is the fifth studio album by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released by Rock Action Records on 18 January 2019. The album is the band's first studio album on Rock Action, and their first since the amicable departure of founding member Mark Devine in early 2018. Three singles preceded the album's release, along with nationwide tours of the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. The album title originates from the lyrics in the song "Sunday Day13".
Òran Mór 2020 is a live concert album by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released as a "pay-what-you-want" download via Bandcamp by Rock Action Records on 26 December 2020. It features only vocalist James Graham and guitarist Andy MacFarlane, together with some programmed drums.
