NAPS team is an Italian independent video game studio based in Messina, Sicily. They work mostly in the home computer and console market. Is the oldest Italian development studio.

History

The company was established as a game developing house in 1993 by Fabio Capone and Domenico Barba. [1]

Like many software houses established in the 1990s, their first market was on the 16-bit Amiga.

In 2016, the company started work on the game Iron Wings. [2] The company used Kickstarter to raise funds. [3] Completed in 2017, it features aerial warfare and is set in World War II. [4]

In 2018, Gekido: Kintaro's Revenge was re-released for the Nintendo Switch, [5] PlayStation 4 [6] and Xbox One. [7]

Baldo, a role-playing video game inspired by The Legend of Zelda series, but with a graphic style inspired by the animated films produced by Studio Ghibli, was announced in 2019.

Reception

In 1996, Shadow Fighter was ranked the 20th best game of all time by Amiga Power . [8]

The game features the music of Fatboy Slim and Apartment 26. Marvel comic book artist Joe Madureira also contributed. Versions of Gekido were also planned for the Game Boy Color and N-Gage but were never released. NAPS team released the prototype of the Game Boy Color game on February 13, 2017.

Gekido Advance: Kintaro's Revenge is a beat 'em up game for the Game Boy Advance, created by Italian studio NAPS Team. It is a sequel to the PlayStation game Gekido. Unlike the previous installment, this game centers on one protagonist, instead of multiple characters as seen in Gekido. A version for N-Gage was planned but never released.

Baldo: The Guardian Owls is an action-adventure video game developed and published by NAPS team. It was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, as well as iOS and macOS through Apple Arcade. The Switch version of the game was scheduled to be released first in summer 2020 as a timed console exclusive, but the game was indefinitely delayed in September of that year. The game was released on August 27, 2021.

Intrepid Izzy, is a independently developed, commercially released video game developed by Dutch studio Senile Team and published by Wave Game Studios. It is a Metroidvania style 2D platformer for the Sega Dreamcast and Windows.
