Nachiketa Chakraborty, simply known as Nachiketa, is an Indian singer, songwriter, musician, composer and playback singer who is known for his modern Bengali lyrics. He achieved fame in the early 1990s, with the release of his debut album Ei Besh Bhalo Achi. [1]

Early life

Nachiketa was born in Kolkata at Muktaram Babu Street. His father was Sakha Ranjan Chakravarti. [2] His ancestral roots lie in Chechri Rampur village in Kathalia at Barisal, Bangladesh. [3] His grandfather Lalit Mohan Chakravarti came to India before 1946. He started composing songs and performing live, as a student of Maharaja Manindra Chandra College in North Kolkata's Shyambazar. [4]

In March, 2024, in social media it is alleged that tune of Nachiketa's famous song Rajashri Tomar Jonno has been taken from album Nour El Ain of Egyptian singer Amr Diab. [5] This music was copied without the attribution. [6]

Sudhir Chakravarti was a Bengali educationist and essayist. He made a vast contribution in Bengal's folk culture development and research. Chakravarti had completely changed the style of colonial prose with his new narrative style. He successfully had replaced the prevailing idea of essay-based writing being something of heavy scholarly matter with his graceful and humorous prose language.

Masum Babul was a Bangladeshi film dance director and choreographer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Choreography twice, for the film Dola (1993) and Ki Jadu Karila (2008). He is also best known for the films Beder Meye Josna (1989), Koti Takar Kabin (2006), and Bikkhov (1994). Babul died on 6 March 2023, at age 60.
