Nancy Duarte is an American writer, speaker, and CEO. Duarte is the author of several books, including slide:ology: The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations (2008), Resonate: Present Visual Stories that Transform Audiences (2010), the HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations (2012), and Illuminate: Ignite Change Through Speeches, Stories, Ceremonies and Symbols (2016). She is the CEO of Duarte, Inc. [1]

Career

Duarte worked with Al Gore on the documentary slide show known as An Inconvenient Truth . [3] [4] [5] Duarte has also worked with TED Talks on quality changes for the presentations given at their events, [6] and has presented her own TED Talks as well. [7] [8] She has been cited by publications writing about presentation style including The Guardian. [9] She is currently the CEO of her eponymous company Duarte, Inc. [10] [11] The company has created tens of thousands of presentations for use by various companies and organizations. [12]

Books

Duarte's first book was slide:ology: The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations. Published in 2008, the book discusses the elements of effective public presentations. [13] In 2010 she published her second book, Resonate: Present Visual Stories that Transform Audiences, a follow-up to her first book that expands upon her method of creating professional presentations. [14] Part of the book draws upon a pattern Duarte states is common among great narrators or storytellers, where they spend time moving between "what is" and "what could be". [15] Duarte's third book, The Harvard Business Review Guide to Persuasive Presentations, was released in 2012. [16] In 2016, Duarte coauthored the book Illuminate: Ignite Change Through Speeches, Stories, Ceremonies and Symbols with Patti Sanchez. [17] In 2019, Duarte published her fourth book ‘’DataStory: Explain Data and Inspire Action Through Story’’.

TED (conference) Global set of conferences

TED Conferences LLC is an American media organization that posts talks online for free distribution under the slogan "ideas worth spreading". TED was conceived by Richard Saul Wurman, who co-founded it with Harry Marks in February 1984 as a conference; it has been held annually since 1990. TED's early emphasis was on technology and design, consistent with its Silicon Valley origins. It has since broadened its perspective to include talks on many scientific, cultural, political, humanitarian and academic topics. It has been curated by Chris Anderson, a British-American businessman, through the non-profit TED Foundation since July 2019.

Nancy Regina Heinen of Portola Valley, California, is an American corporate lawyer, business executive, and philanthropist. Heinen is known for being the General Counsel, Senior Vice President, and Secretary for Apple Computer, Inc. between September 1997 and May 2006. Heinen is currently a member of the board of VERB and the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2). She also serves on the board of directors and advisory boards for several other companies and philanthropic organizations.

PechaKucha storytelling format

PechaKucha is a storytelling format where a presenter shows 20 slides for 20 seconds of commentary each. At a PechaKucha Night, individuals gather at a venue to share personal presentations about their work. The PechaKucha format can be used, for example, in business presentations to clients or staff, as well as in education settings.

A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes, given at a conference or similar forum. Several lightning talks will usually be delivered by different speakers in a single session, sometimes called a data blitz.

Nancy Lublin

Nancy Lublin is the founder and former CEO of Crisis Text Line and was the creator of Dress for Success. She was also the CEO of Do Something Inc., a company that mobilizes youth to participate in social change, from 2003 to 2015.

June Cohen is an American producer and entrepreneur. She is currently the CEO of WaitWhat, a media company she co-founded with Deron Triff. Prezi

Prezi is a Hungarian video and visual communications software company founded in 2009 in Hungary, with offices in San Francisco, Budapest and Riga. Prezi has more than 100 million users worldwide who have created approximately 400 million presentations. In 2019 they launched Prezi Video, which was the first widely available tool on the market that allows for virtual presentations within the video screen of a live or recorded video. The word "Prezi" is the short form of "presentation" in Hungarian.

SlideShare

SlideShare is an American hosting service, now owned by Scribd, for professional content including presentations, infographics, documents, and videos. Users can upload files privately or publicly in PowerPoint, Word, PDF, or OpenDocument format. Content can then be viewed on the site itself, on mobile devices or embedded on other sites. SlideShare also provides users the ability to rate, comment on, and share the uploaded content. Launched on October 4, 2006, the service positioned itself to be similar to YouTube, but for presentations. The company was acquired by LinkedIn in 2012, and then by Scribd in 2020.

Joshua Klein is a technologist who uses systems thinking to create alternative methods of succeeding in divergent fields. Patty McCord is a human resources (HR) consultant and executive. She was the chief talent officer at Netflix where she was influential in establishing its corporate culture of empowering employees but only retaining those whose performance is excellent. She joined Netflix in 1998 where, with CEO Reed Hastings, she created a presentation about Netflix culture, Freedom and Responsibility, which has been influential in other startups and businesses.

Mary Eleanor Hunt Spear was an American data visualization specialist, graphic analyst and author, who pioneered development of the bar chart and box plot.

Michelle Penelope King is a white South African born journalist, writer, women's rights activist and advocate for gender equality. Since December 2019, King has been director of inclusion at Netflix, a department responsible for inclusion and diversity among corporate employees.
