Naresh Iyer (born 3 January 1981) is an Indian playback singer. Born in Mumbai, Iyer is fluent in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Marathi. Naresh Iyer has rendered 2000 film songs in several Indian languages and has several chart hits to his credit. His rendition of "Roobaroo" from the movie Rang De Basanti composed by A. R. Rahman topped the music charts for many weeks in 2006 and won him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He won the Filmfare award in the R.D. Burman Musical Talent category.
Naresh Iyer was born to Shankar Iyer and Radha on 3 January 1981 and brought up in Matunga, Mumbai. He has a younger sister named Nisha Iyer, who is an upcoming self-taught Professional Artist. He attended SIES College of Commerce and Economics where he received his Degree in Commerce. After graduation he intended to become a Chartered Accountant and was practicing CA and side by side was learning Carnatic music and Hindustani classical music too. [1]
Naresh was spotted by composer A. R. Rahman in a reality talent show, Channel V's Super Singer. Though he did not win the show, Naresh was later contacted by A. R. Rahman and made his debut with the song "Mayilirage" from Anbe Aaruyire . [2] He has also sung for other composers in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. [3]
Naresh is also the vocalist of a Mumbai based fusion band called Dhvani. [4]
He also won the R.D. Burman Award as the best male upcoming singer. [5]
The same year he also won the National Award for Best Playback Singer(Male) for his rendition of "Rubaroo" from the movie "Rang De Basanti".

Rahul Dev Burman, known professionally as R.D. Burman, was an Indian music director and actor, who is considered to be one of the greatest and most successful music directors of the Hindi film music industry. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films, bringing a new level of music ensemble with his compositions. Burman did his major work with legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Kishore Kumar. He also worked extensively with lyricist Gulzar, with whom he has some of the most memorable numbers in his career. Nicknamed Pancham, he was the only son of the composer Sachin Dev Burman.
Hariharan Anantha Subramani is an Indian playback, bhajan and ghazal singer who predominantly sings in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. He has also sung over 15,000 notable songs in 10 languages including Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sinhala, Bhojpuri, Odia, Bengali, Sanskrit, Gujarati and English. Dharam Karam is a 1975 Hindi drama film produced by Raj Kapoor and directed by Randhir Kapoor, who also stars as father and son in the film, respectively. The film also stars Rekha, Premnath and Dara Singh. The music is by R.D. Burman and the lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri, who received a Filmfare nomination as Best Lyricist for the hit song "Ek Din Bik Jayega." Of the three of them, only Mukesh received a Filmfare nomination as Best Male Playback Singer for the song. According to one source, the film performed "Below Average" at the box office.
Kudrat (transl. Nature) is a 1981 Indian Hindi-language drama film, written and directed by Chetan Anand. The film stars Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini, supported by Raaj Kumar, Priya Rajvansh and Vinod Khanna. This is the second movie of the Rajesh Khanna-Hema Malini pair with a reincarnation theme after Mehbooba. Rajesh Khanna received the 1982 All-India Critics Association (AICA) Best Actor Award for Kudrat. The film was a box office hit and it won the Filmfare Award for Best Story.
Mohit Chauhan is an Indian playback singer, known for his work in Hindi films. He was a part of the Silk Route band. Chauhan has received two Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer and three Zee Cine Award For Best Male Playback Singer awards. He has recorded several songs for films and albums many different languages, and is one of the most prominent Indipop singers.
The soundtrack to the 2006 film Rang De Basanti was released by Sony Music Entertainment on 8 December 2005 and had its music composed by A. R. "Nenjukkul Peidhidum" is a song from the 2008 movie Vaaranam Aayiram, composed by Harris Jayaraj, penned by Thamarai and sung by Hariharan, Krish, Devan and Prasanna with a chorus interlude. It was a chart topper of the year 2008. Harris’ music complements Thamarai’s lyrics in this song, the lyrics play a major part in the song showcasing the best of Thamarai that is finest, youthful, simple and romantic. Its picturisation too got noticed. The song has now achieved a cult status.
Vaaranam Aayiram is the soundtrack album for the 2008 film of the same name directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, and features music by Harris Jayaraj, following four successive soundtracks with the director. The album was under production from one-and-a-half years and featured seven songs written by Thamarai and Na. Muthukumar. The album was distributed by Sony BMG and released on 24 September 2008. The soundtrack for the Telugu dubbed version titled Surya S/o Krishnan featured lyrics by Veturi and was released on 30 October 2008.
