The National Agency for the Safety of Flight (Italian : Agenzia Nazionale per la Sicurezza del Volo) is the Italian aviation accident investigation agency. The ANSV is headquartered in Rome. [1] The italian Prime Minister oversees the agency. [2]

It was established by legislative decree No. 66, 25 February 1999. Prior to the establishment of the ANSV, there would be two different investigations for each aviation accident or incident, one by the airport director and another more formal and technical investigation by an ad hoc committee appointed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. After its establishment, only one investigation is made. [3]

Tuninter Flight 1153 was a Tuninter Airlines international flight from Bari International Airport in Bari, Italy, to Djerba-Zarzis Airport in Djerba, Tunisia. On 6 August 2005, the Tuninter ATR 72 ditched into the Mediterranean Sea about 18 miles (29 km) from the city of Palermo. Sixteen of the 39 people on board died. The accident resulted from fuel exhaustion due to the installation of fuel quantity indicators designed for the ATR 42 in the larger ATR 72. It was also Tuninter's first fatal accident in the 14-year history of the company.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ryanair Flight 4102</span> Aviation accident in 2008

On 10 November 2008, Ryanair Flight 4102 from Frankfurt–Hahn Airport, in Hahn, Rhineland-Palatinate to Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport, in Rome, Italy, suffered multiple bird strikes while landing. Of the 172 people on board, two crew and eight passengers received hospital treatment for minor injuries. The 8-month-old Boeing 737-8AS jet used for the flight received a massive amount of damage, which led to it being written off. This accident represents the fourth hull loss of a Boeing 737-800.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Air Algérie Flight 2208</span> 2006 aviation accident

Air Algérie Flight 2208 was a cargo flight between Algiers-Houari Boumediene Airport, Algiers, Algeria, and Frankfurt Airport, Germany. On 13 August 2006, the Lockheed L-100 operating the flight crashed in Northern Italy as a result of an autopilot malfunction. The aircraft struck the ground in a sparsely populated area after a very steep and rapid descent, narrowly avoiding crashing into a highly populated area. The crew of three on board were killed in the accident; there were no passengers, nor were there injuries or property damage on the ground.

The Polizia Postale e delle Comunicazioni is one of the units of the Polizia di Stato, the State Police of Italy. Its functions include the investigation of cybercrime.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Presidency of the Council of Ministers (Italy)</span>

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers is the administrative structure which supports the Prime Minister of Italy. It is thus the Italian equivalent of the Prime Minister's Office. It contains those departments which carry out duties invested in the office of the Prime Minister. Duties invested in the Italian executive government generally are not administered by the Presidency, but by the individual ministries.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Air Littoral Flight 701</span> 1997 aviation accident

On 30 July 1997, Air Littoral Flight 701, an ATR 42 regional turboprop operating a scheduled passenger flight from Nice, France to Florence, Italy, crashed on landing when it ran off Florence Airport's runway and into a ditch next to a motorway embankment. There were no fatalities among the 14 passengers on board, but the cockpit section was severely damaged, and the captain died of his injuries four days later.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Alitalia Flight 1553</span> 1999 aviation accident

Alitalia Flight 1553, operated by Minerva Airlines in Italy, was a regularly scheduled commercial passenger flight from Cagliari to Genoa. On 25 February 1999, the Dornier 328 serving the flight lost control and overran the runway while landing at Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. Of the 31 occupants on board, three died, including the flight attendant; another passenger later died in hospital. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 Milan airplane crash</span> 2021 aviation incident

On 3 October 2021, a Romanian private plane crashed into a building in San Donato Milanese, Lombardy, Italy. All eight occupants of the aircraft were killed, including the Romanian businessman and billionaire Dan Petrescu, the owner and pilot of the plane.
