National University of Vanuatu (NUV) was established by the Parliament on the 17th December 2019 via Act No. 34 of 2019. [1]

It incorporates the Vanuatu Institute of Teacher Education (VITE), Vanuatu Institute of Technology, Vanuatu Agriculture College, Vanuatu Maritime College, Vanuatu Nursing College, and Vanuatu Police College.

Former education minister, Jean Pierre Nirua, has been appointed as the inaugural vice-chancellor. [2]

Makerere College School is a co-educational government aided O and A Level school founded in 1945 by Makerere University. In 1945 Makerere University was still a constituent college of the University of London. The school is located on the main campus of Makerere University, adjacent to the College of Education and External Studies on Makerere Hill Road.

Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas is a Vanuatuan politician, former accountant, and political advisor. He was the Prime Minister of Vanuatu, having been elected on 11 February 2016 following the 2016 general election, and dismissed on 20 April 2020 following the 2020 general election. He is the leader of the Reunification of Movements for Change (RMC), which is part of the Unity for Change bloc. Salwai is a Francophone from Pentecost Island.
