The Women's Nations Cup (formerly known as the Air Canada Cup, the MLP Nations Cup and the Meco Cup) is an annual women's ice hockey tournament, held in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Six nations are participating, five countries with their national team and Canada who are playing with their national under-22 team.

The Finnish women's national ice hockey team represents Finland at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championships, the Olympic Games, the Four Nations Cup, and other international-level women's ice hockey competitions. The women's national team is overseen by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association and its general manager is Tuula Puputti. Finland's national women's program is ranked third in the world by the IIHF and had 5,858 active players as of 2019.
Tegera Arena is an arena in Leksand, Sweden primarily used for ice hockey. It was opened in October 2005, and is the home arena of Leksands IF. It holds 7,650 people.

The 4 Nations Cup is an annual women's ice hockey tournament, held between four major national teams in the sport; currently, these are Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland. Until 2000, when Sweden joined, the tournament was the 3 Nations Cup. In general, it is held in or around November each year.
Hjalmar Erik Wilheim "Jerka, Burre" Burman was a Swedish ice hockey player, footballer, and bandy player. He competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and in the 1924 Winter Olympics.
Daniel Brodin is a Swedish professional ice hockey right winger who is currently playing for Djurgårdens IF Hockey in the HockeyAllsvenskan (Allsv). Brodin has represented Sweden internationally at the 2010 World Junior Championships. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Vicki Bendus is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who last played for the Brampton Thunder of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). While playing collegiate hockey with the Mercyhurst Lakers, she won the 2010 Patty Kazmaier Award, awarded to the top player in women's NCAA hockey. She was also selected for the Canadian national women's team that will compete in the 2010 Four Nations Cup. Bendus was the leading scorer at the 2011 MLP Cup.
The McGill Martlets ice hockey team represents McGill University, based in Montreal, Quebec in U Sports women's ice hockey. They are members of the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and have won four U Sports women's ice hockey championships. Some players have participated internationally, including in the World Student Games. Home games are played at McConnell Arena.
The 2010–11 women's national hockey team will represent Canada in various tournaments during the season. The team will attempt to win the gold medal at the Women's World Championships. The head coach is former National Hockey League player Ryan Walter.
Lauriane Rougeau is a Canadian ice hockey player who currently plays for PWHL Toronto of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). A former All-America selection for the Cornell Big Red women's ice hockey program, Rougeau was part of the Montreal Stars team that captured the inaugural Clarkson Cup in 2009. Competing in Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics, she was part of Canada's gold medal triumph. Having also earned a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship, she is among a rare group of Canadian female hockey players that have won the Clarkson Cup, IIHF World Gold and Winter Games gold.
Ann-Sophie Bettez is a Canadian ice hockey forward currently with PWHL Montreal of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
The 2011 Karjala Tournament was played between 10–13 November 2011. The Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Russia played a round-robin for a total of three games per team and six games in total. Five of the matches were played in the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland, and one match in the Fjällräven Center in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The tournament was won by Russia, who won all their three games. The tournament was part of 2011–12 Euro Hockey Tour.
The 2012 Oddset Hockey Games was played between 9–12 February 2012. The Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Russia played a round-robin for a total of three games per team and six games in total. Five of the matches were played in the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden, and one match in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland. Sweden won the tournament for the second year in a row, after defeating Finland 3–1 on the last game day. The tournament was part of 2011–12 Euro Hockey Tour.
Falu Ishockeyförening or Falu IF is an ice hockey club located in the Swedish city of Falun in Dalarna. The club currently plays in the Western group of Hockeyettan, the third tier of the Swedish ice hockey system, and plays their matches in Lugnets Ishall with a capacity for 2500 spectators.
The 2009 MLP Nations Cup was the seventh edition of the women's ice hockey tournament. It was held from January 2-6, 2009 in Ravensburg, Germany. Sweden won the tournament by defeating Canada U22 in the final.
The 2010 MLP Nations Cup was the eighth edition of the women's ice hockey tournament. It was held from January 5-9, 2010 in Ravensburg, Germany. The Canadian U22 national team won the tournament by defeating Switzerland in the final.
Sarah Edney was selected first overall by the Brampton Thunder in the 2015 CWHL Draft. She made her debut with the Canada women's national ice hockey team at the 2015 4 Nations Cup in Sundsvall, Sweden.
Sweden competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. The Swedish Olympic Committee sent 116 athletes to the Games, 62 men and 54 women, to compete in nine sports. Jennie-Lee Burmansson set a new record as the youngest Swedish Winter Olympic participant.
The 2019–20 HockeyAllsvenskan season was the 15th season that the second tier of Swedish ice hockey has operated under that name. The series consisted of 14 teams playing a regular season in which each team played each other team four times, twice at home and twice away. This was followed by a series of promotion and relegation tournaments, with the teams finishing first through eight participating in promotion playoffs, and the teams finishing 13th and 14th forced to requalify to avoid relegation to the Hockeyettan. However, after the regular season, on 15 March 2020 the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIHA) cancelled the post-season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. No teams will be promoted nor relegated to or from HockeyAllsvenskan, and the next season of HockeyAllsvenskan will feature the same teams.
