Naum Leybovich Prokupets (born March 20, 1948) is a Moldovan-born Israeli former sprint canoeist who competed for the Soviet Union in the late 1960s. [1] He is Jewish. [2]
Naum Prokupets was born in Basarabeasca, a small town in Moldova. At the age of 17, he was spotted by a canoeing trainer who encouraged him to move to Moscow to train with the national USSR canoeing team. In 1991, after working in senior positions in the sports administration for several years and after the break-up of the Soviet Union, Prokupets immigrated to Israel. Initially he worked as a security guard and a pool lifeguard. Now he is a production worker at the Flextronics electronics plant in Migdal HaEmek. He lives with his family in Nazareth Illit. [3]
At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he won a bronze medal in the C-2 1000 m event. [2]
Prokupets also won a gold medal in the C-2 10000 m event at the 1971 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Belgrade. [2]
Ivans Klementjevs is a Soviet-born Latvian politician and former sprint canoeist who competed from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. He won three Olympic medals in C-1 1000 m at the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. The highlight was the gold medal in 1988, which he won as a competitor for the USSR. He trained at Trudovye Rezervy and later at the Armed Forces sports society in Riga when Latvia was part of the Soviet Union.
Michael "Misha" Kolganov is a USSR-born Israeli sprint kayaker and former two-time world champion. Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won the bronze medal in the K-1 500 m event at Sydney in 2000. He was the flag bearer for Israel during the 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.
Leonid Grigorievich Geishtor; also Geyshtor is a Soviet-born Belarusian sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Vladimir Ivanovich Morozov was a Soviet sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1970s. He won a gold medal in the K-4 1000 m event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Dmitri Dovgalenok, is a Soviet-born Belarusian sprint canoeist who competed from the early 1990s to the early 2000s (decade). He was born in Minsk. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a gold in the C-2 500 m event at Barcelona in 1992 representing the Unified Team.
Mikhail Zamotin is a Soviet-born, Russian sprint canoeist who competed in the 1960s. At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he won a bronze medal in the C-2 1000 m event.
Serhiy Nahorniy is a Soviet sprint canoeist who competed from the late 1970s and the early 1980s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won two medals at Montreal in 1976 with a gold in the K-2 1000 m and a silver in the K-2 500 m events.
Anatoly Nikolayevich Demitkov was a Soviet canoeist. He took the silver medal in the K-2 1000 m event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne together with Mikhail Kaaleste. They went on to win the European Championship in 1957 and took third place at the 1958 Flatwater Racing World Championship in Prague.
Nikolai Chuzhikov is a Soviet sprint canoeist who competed in the 1960s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a gold in the K-4 1000 m at Tokyo in 1964.
Anatoli Kuzmich Grishin was a Soviet sprint canoeist who competed in the mid-1960s.
Aleksandr Degtyarev is a Soviet sprint canoeist who competed in the 1970s. He won a gold medal in the K-4 1000 m event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
László Fábián was a Hungarian sprint canoeist who competed from the late 1950s to the late 1960s. He won a gold medal in the K-2 10000 m at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. He was Jewish.

As canoeist, he competed in the mid to late 1960s. He won a gold medal in the K-1 4 x 500 m event at the 1966 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in East Berlin.
