Mohd Nazifuddin bin Mohammad Najib (Jawi :نظيفالديننجيب,Malay pronunciation: [nazifuddin] ; born 13 December 1983) or more commonly known as Nazif Najib is a Malaysian businessman and the son of Najib Razak, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He is currently a Member of the Executive Committee (EXCO) of UMNO Youth, as well as the Division Chief of UMNO Langkawi since March 2023.
He started a degree in computer science at the University of Nottingham, but soon changed to study international business at American Intercontinental University in 2002, where he obtained a bachelor's degree. He then enrolled at Cass Business School at City University where he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Nazifuddin has been named in the Panama Papers, and has responded that he is no longer involved in the two companies involved in the data leak. [1]
Nazifuddin further stated, "I held directorships in two companies based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI): Jay Marriot International and PCJ International Venture Limited. These companies were incorporated by the international law firm Mossack Fonseca," and that he had transferred all of his Jay Marriot shares to fellow director Ch'ng Soon Sen's sister and had resigned in 2011, and that PCJ was shut down a year after its 2013 foundation and had had no business transactions. On 5 July 2018, Nazifuddin had set social media on fire after he was spotted wining and dining Taiwanese actress Celia Chang in Taipei. Taiwanese portal Apple Daily said the pair were seen dining at a steakhouse and having a massage at a top luxury shopping district near Taipei 101. [2]
DAP's Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang has weighed into Nazifuddin wining and dining with Celia Zhang. [3]
Despite much ink being spilled over Nazifuddin’s Taiwan visit a day after Najib’s four corruption charges in Kuala Lumpur, the most important question seemed to have been missed, i.e. what was Nazifuddin doing in Taiwan and what was his most important agenda in his quick one-day trip to Taiwan – as very few would believe that the whole purpose of Nazifuddin’s quick one-day trip to Taiwan as just to have a rendezvous of wine and food with Celia.
Only Nazifuddin can answer this question. Will he do so? [3]

On 24 July 2019, the government had filed a tax evasion lawsuit through the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), against Nazifuddin to claim RM37.6 million in unpaid taxes since 2011 till 2017. [7] [8]
On 2 March 2020, Nazifuddin failed to obtain a stay on the RM37.6 million tax suit against him. [9]
On 6 July 2020, the High Court has allowed an application for summary judgment to be entered in the IRB suit to recover RM37.6 million in unpaid taxes from Nazifuddin. [10] [11]
On 18 May 2021, he has been served with a bankruptcy notice following his failure to pay RM37.6 million in taxes he owes the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). [12]
On 16 October 2023, the Federal Court ruled Nazifuddin and Najib need to settle RM37.6 million and RM1.69 billion in unpaid taxes and penalties respectively. [13] [14]

Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak is a Malaysian politician who served as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2009 to 2018. In 2020, he was convicted of corruption in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, one of the largest money-laundering and embezzlement scandals in history. He is the son of former prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein. Najib Razak was the chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from April 2009 to May 2018 and the president of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) from November 2008 to May 2018, which had maintained control of Malaysia's government with a parliamentary majority for more than sixty years until the coalition's defeat in the 2018 general election.

Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor is a Malaysian politician who served as Minister of Federal Territories, Minister of Tourism and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak from November 2002 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018, Member of Parliament (MP) for Putrajaya from March 2004 to November 2022. He was the sixth president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and also the former Malaysian Minister for Transport. Rosmah binti Mansor is the second wife of former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak. Like her husband, she was implicated in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal (1MDB). On 1 September 2022, she was found guilty of corruption in relation to a school electricity project, fined $303m and sentenced to ten years imprisonment.
Sarawak Report is an opinion, gossip, commentary, and political activism blog focused on environmental and corruption issues in Malaysia. It has been largely self-published and operated from London since 2010 by Clare Rewcastle Brown. The blog had originally focused on the welfare of the indigenous people in Sarawak but eventually published original exposés on corruption scandals in wider Malaysia. In 2017, it gained wide recognition for its original and early exposure of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, which had led the Najib Razak-led Malaysian government to block the website. The blog was openly critical of the Barisan Nasional-led state and federal governments of Sarawak and Malaysia, and supportive of the Pakatan Harapan opposition.

He served as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Seri Delima from March 2008 to May 2018. A by-election was held on 4 August 2018 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Sungai Kandis. The seat became vacant after the death of the former assemblyman, Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei from lymphatic cancer on 2 July 2018. Mat Shuhaimi was a member of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat, a component party of the state ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition. He won his seat after defeating BN, PAS and PRM candidates with a majority of 12,480 votes. It is the first by-election since the historic May 2018 general election that saw the first-ever change of federal government since independence.

The National Concord was a Malaysian political coalition that was formed between the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) against the then-ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition which had come into power after the 2018 Malaysian general election (GE14). The political cooperation between the two largest Malay/Muslim-based parties was officialised with the signing of the Piagam Muafakat Nasional. The five-point charter was signed by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur on 14 September 2019. Its main aim is to unite the Malay/Muslim community or Ummah for electoral purposes.
Dato' Onn Hafiz bin Dato' Ghazi is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 19th Menteri Besar of Johor and Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Machap since March 2022. He previously served as MLA for Layang-Layang from May 2018 to March 2022. From March 2020 to his promotion to Menteri Besarship in March 2022, he served as Member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He has also served as the State Chairman of BN and UMNO of Johor since February 2024 and December 2023 respectively.

The 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal is an ongoing political scandal in Malaysia, in which then-Prime Minister Najib Razak was accused of channeling over RM 2.67 billion into his personal bank accounts from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a government-run strategic development company. 1MDB was overseen by Najib as head of its advisory board. Following repeated calls for resignation by the public, Najib lost power in the 2018 Malaysian general election, and is currently on trial along with several key figures involved.
