Nick William Sheridan (born May 21, 1988) is an American football coach and former quarterback who is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Alabama. He previously served as the tight ends coach at the University of Washington and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the Indiana University. He played college football for Michigan.

Playing career

Sheridan walked on to Michigan as a quarterback in 2006. He earned a scholarship his junior year and started 4 games in 2008. Sheridan graduated from Michigan in 2010 with a degree in political science. [1]

Coaching career

After graduating from Michigan, Sheridan took a coaching position at his alma mater, Saline High School. [2] He coached quarterbacks at Saline for one year before leaving to join Willie Taggart's coaching staff at Western Kentucky as a graduate assistant in 2011. He was promoted to passing coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012. [3] He served in that same capacity at South Florida in 2013 after Taggart was named the head coach there. He was fired after one season at South Florida along with South Florida offensive coordinator Walt Wells. [4] He was hired to be a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2014 following his termination from South Florida. He coached at Tennessee for four seasons before being named the quarterbacks coach at Indiana in 2017. He switched to the tight ends coach in 2019 after offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Mike DeBord retired and Fresno State offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. [5] He was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2020 season after DeBoer departed to be the head coach at Fresno State. [6]

Sheridan was terminated by Indiana on November 28, 2021. [7]

Sheridan was hired by the Washington Huskies on December 14, 2021, as their new tight ends coach.

On February 20, 2024, it was announced that Sheridan would be following Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama to become the team's new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. [8]

Personal life

Sheridan is the son of Bill Sheridan, a longtime football coach who was the defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is currently the linebackers coach for the Arlington Renegades. [9] Sheridan and his wife Sarah have three children.

The Indiana Hoosiers football program represents Indiana University Bloomington in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football and in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers have played their home games at Memorial Stadium since 1960. The team has won the Big Ten Championship twice, once in 1945 and again in 1967. The Hoosiers have appeared in 12 bowl games, including the 1968 Rose Bowl. Douglas Keith Nussmeier is an American football coach and former player who is the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played professionally as a quarterback in the NFL and Canadian Football League (CFL). Nussmeier played college football for the Idaho Vandals football, winning the Walter Payton Award as the most outstanding offensive player in NCAA Division I-AA. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL Draft. He finished his playing career with the CFL's BC Lions.

Mike DeBord is an American football coach who was most recently the offensive coordinator at the University of Kansas. He was previously the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), and was the associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Indiana University prior to joining the AAF. DeBord was the head football coach at Central Michigan University from 2000 to 2003, compiling a record of 12–34. He worked as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan for a total of 11 seasons, from 1993 to 1999 and again from 2004 to 2007. He was the offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines for five seasons including Michigan's 1997 campaign, in which the team won part of a national championship. DeBord has also worked as an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL), with the Seattle Seahawks (2008–2009) and the Chicago Bears (2010–2012).
