Nirmal Baby Varghese is an Indian film director in Malayalam. [1] [2] [3] [4] He is known for his historical documentary film Thariode . [5] [6] [7] [8] His feature directorial debut Vazhiye , was an experimental movie made in found footage style and it is the first found footage movie in Malayalam. [1] [9] [10] He is also script writer, film editor, and public relations officer. [11] [12] He is the younger brother of film producer Baby Chaithanya. [13] [14] He runs his own independent film production company called Casablanca Film Factory. [15]
Nirmal was born to Baby P K and Lilly Baby on 13 January 1994 at Kavummannam, in Wayanad district, in Kerala. [16] [17] [18]
In 2016, Nirmal directed two short films, Mirror of Reality and Mattam the Change , which were later released on Amazon Prime Video on 2020. [19] [20] [12] [21]
He began his career in Malayalam film industry in 2017 as the associate editor of the film Kalippu , starring Bala Singh, Kalasala Babu, Ambika Mohan and Shalil Kallur. [22] [23] [24] Later he worked as a poster designer for the film Freakens , starring Biju Sopanam, Indrans and Kalabhavan Navas. [25] He has also worked as a public relations officer for the films Moppala, [26] Deira Diaries , [27] Sarcas Circa 2020 , [28] and Vijay Yesudas's multilingual 3D film Salmon 3D. [29]
He made his third directorial venture in Thariode, a historical documentary film about gold mining in Thariode. [5] [30] The film found critical acclaim in the festival circuit. [33] [34] [35] He later announced the title of this cinematic remake as Thariode: The Lost City with a mainly foreign cast list including Bill Hutchens, Luing Andrews, Alexx O'Nell, Courtney Sanello, Amelie Leroy, Brendan Byrne and Roger Ward. Madhavan Nair, commonly known by his stage name Madhu, is an Indian actor, director, producer, former college lecturer and former film studio owner, who works in Malayalam cinema and a certain number of Hindi and Tamil films. He was a prominent lead actor during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and has acted in more than 400 films. Madhu has also directed 12 films, produced 15 films and at one time owned the Uma Film Studio. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013 for his contributions towards the arts. He was honored with the J. C. Daniel Award by the Government of Kerala in 2004, for his outstanding contributions to Malayalam films. He is the president of Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) Kerala Unit.
Aju Kurian Varghese better known as Aju Varghese is an Indian actor and producer who appears in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut in 2010 in Malarvadi Arts Club, directed by his college classmate Vineeth Sreenivasan. In a career spanning over a decade, he has acted in more than 130 Malayalam films. He owns a production company named Funtastic Films along with actor Dhyan Sreenivasan and producer Visakh Subramaniam.
