Nollywood TV is the first French-language television channel dedicated to Nigerian cinema, also called Nollywood. The films are entirely full dubbed in French and not simply subtitled.

History

Created by Thema in 2012, Nollywood TV has 750 hours of cinematographic programs, originating from the South African television channel Africa Magic (M-Net/MultiChoice group).

Distribution

The channel is distributed within the Le Bouquet Africain at Free since 5 October 2012, via SFR TV since 12 December 2012, Orange since 4 April 2013, Numericable since 10 June 2013, CanalSat Afrique since 2 April 2013 and CanalSat France since 13 January 2015.

TV5Monde, formerly known as TV5, is a French television network, broadcasting several channels of French-language programming. It is an approved participant member of the European Broadcasting Union.

France 2 French public television channel

France 2 is a French public national television channel. It is part of the state-owned France Télévisions group, along with France 3, France 4, and France 5. France Télévisions also participates in Arte and Euronews.

Comédie+ is a French cable network showing humorous programs since 1997. It bears some resemblance to Comedy Central; even the comédie word in the name is used in the very broad American meaning. It is directed by Dominique Farrugia, a former member of the Les Nuls comedy team. An often-shown program is La Grosse Emission which helped popularize the comedians troupe named Les Robins des Bois.

Groupe Canal+ is a French mass media company. It is owned and controlled by Vivendi and has a film library in excess of 5,000 films. Vivendi has sold some parts of Canal Plus to private investors which are still using the name of Canal Plus. It is headquartered in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the suburbs of Paris.

Television in France was introduced in 1931, when the first experimental broadcasts began. Colour television was introduced in October 1967 on La Deuxième Chaîne.

AB Sat is a package of digital terrestrial television channels offered by the satellite companies Hot Bird and Astra and marketed in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany. Filmnet

FilmNet was the name used for several premium television channels in Europe during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. It was launched on 9 March 1985, broadcasting with a focus on Scandinavia, the Netherlands and the northern part of Belgium (Flanders). Filmnet channels were later launched in Poland and Greece.

irokotv is a web platform that provides paid-for Nigerian films on-demand. It is one of Africa's first mainstream online movie streaming websites, providing access to over 5,000 Nollywood film titles. irokotv is a part of iROKO Limited, which is one of Africa's entertainment companies.

Canal Uno (Ecuador)

Canal Uno was a Ecuadorian television network owned by the Group Rivas operated RELAD S.A., in the city of Guayaquil and Canal Uno S.A., in the city of Quito. Since its start in broadcasting on November 6, 1992 as CRE Televisión, April 18, 1994 as SíTV and May 6, 2002, the channel has become one of the largest chains of Ecuador.

Discovery Science (European TV channel) European pay television channel

Discovery Science is a pay television network, operated by Discovery EMEA, it targets several European countries' television markets. It primarily features programming in the fields of space, technology and science. The channel originally launched as Discovery Sci-Trek. Its programming is mainly in English and locally subtitled or dubbed. It is available through numerous subscription services across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Eutelsat 5 West A

Eutelsat 5 West A, formerly Atlantic Bird 3 is a communications satellite belonging to the operator Eutelsat. Situated at 5° West, it broadcasts satellite television, radio and other digital data. Developed for France Telecom it was transferred soon after its launch to the operator Eutelsat. It entered operational service in early September 2002. Its current anticipated working life is 15 years.

Vivolta was a French pay-tv-channel devoted to the art of living launched on December 10, 2007. The channel ceased operations on December 31, 2018.

Mary Njoku Nigerian actor (born 1985)

Mary Nnenna Njoku is a Nigerian actress and film producer, and Director General of the award-winning Lagos-based film house, ROK Studios, in Nigeria, which was recently acquired by French TV giant, CANAL+. She produced and starred in Thy Will be Done, Husbands of Lagos; starred and directed Single Ladies and Festac Town.
