She was previously a member of the Mountain View City Council and the California State Assembly. A member of the Democratic Party, he was defeated in the 2018 United States Senate election in California against incumbent Senator Dianne Feinstein and came in third place in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election.

Steven Craig Bradford is an American politician currently serving in the California State Senate. He is a Democrat representing the 35th district, encompassing parts of Los Angeles County. Prior to his election to the state senate, he was an assemblymember for the 62nd district of the California State Assembly. Bradford was elected to represent the 51st district in a special election held on September 1, 2009, after Curren Price resigned his seat to take a seat in the California State Senate. He was re-elected in 2010 and, with 72% of the vote, was elected once more to represent the brand new 62nd District, comprising the communities of Del Aire, Del Rey, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Marina del Rey, West Athens, Westchester, Westmont and Venice Beach.

He is a member of the California Legislative LGBT Caucus, and currently serves as Chair of the California Asian American & Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus.

Betsy Butler is an American politician who served in the California State Assembly. She is a Democrat. Butler is the Executive Director of the Women's Law Center. She serves as Chair of the California Commission on Aging, appointed in 2015 by the President pro tempore of the California State Senate, Kevin de León, and elected chair in 2018 and again in 2019. She also serves on the Los Angeles County Probation Commission, appointed by Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis in 2016. Prior to being elected to the State Assembly, Butler was a fundraiser for the California League of Conservation Voters and the Consumer Attorneys of California. She began her career in public service with Lt. Governor Leo T. McCarthy and was an appointee of President Bill Clinton in the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. She has been a board member of Equality California, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, and the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County.

A Democrat, he represented the 15th Assembly district from 2014 to 2018, encompassing the northern East Bay.

California's Assembly Bill 1066, Phase-In Overtime for Agricultural Workers Act of 2016, was authored by Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher and was signed by Governor Jerry Brown on September 12, 2016. This bill allows farmworkers in California to qualify for overtime pay after working 8 hours in a single day or 40 hours in a workweek. Prior to the passage of AB 1066, farmworkers were only eligible for overtime pay after working 10 hours.

The 2020 California State Senate election was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, with the primary election scheduled for March 3, 2020. Voters in the 20 odd-numbered districts of the California State Senate elected their representatives. The elections coincided with the elections for other offices, including for U.S. President and the state assembly.

The 2022 California Insurance Commissioner election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the Insurance Commissioner of California. <span class="mw-page-title-main">2026 California gubernatorial election</span>

The 2026 California gubernatorial election will take place on November 3, 2026, to elect the governor of California. Incumbent Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom will be term-limited and ineligible to seek reelection. Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, former California Senate president pro tempore Toni Atkins, and former Controller Betty Yee have declared their candidacies. The field of candidates is expected to expand in the coming years.
