Boardman earned a MSC from University of Melbourne and PhD,and ScD from University of Cambridge. He was Research Scientist at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation from 1956 to 1968 and was Chief Research Scientist from 1968 to 1977.
He studied the biochemistry, development and molecular architecture of chloroplasts and pioneered the physical separation of the two photochemical systems of photosynthesis.
He was awarded the David Syme Research Prize in 1967 and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1978. [3] He was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1993. [4]
Robert McCredie May,Baron May of Oxford,HonFAIB was an Australian scientist who was Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government,President of the Royal Society, and a professor at the University of Sydney and Princeton University. He held joint professorships at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. He was also a crossbench member of the House of Lords from 2001 until his retirement in 2017.
Sir Cyril Norman Hinshelwood was a British physical chemist and expert in chemical kinetics. His work in reaction mechanisms earned the 1956 Nobel Prize in chemistry.
John Shine is an Australian biochemist and molecular biologist. Shine and Lynn Dalgarno discovered a nucleotide sequence, called the Shine-Dalgarno sequence, necessary for the initiation of protein synthesis. He directed the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney from 1990 to 2011. From 2018 to 2022,Shine was President of the Australian Academy of Science.
The Royal Society of Victoria (RSV) is the oldest scientific society in Victoria,Australia.
Sir Michael John Berridge was a British physiologist and biochemist.
Alan Simon Finkel is an Australian neuroscientist, inventor, researcher, entrepreneur, educator, policy advisor, and philanthropist. He was Australia’s Chief Scientist from 2016 to 2020. Prior to his appointment, his career included Chancellor of Monash University,President of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE),and CEO and founder of Axon Instruments, and CTO for the electric car start-up Better Place Australia.

Renfrey Burnard (Ren) Potts AO (1925–2005) was an Australian mathematician and is notable for the Potts model and his achievements in:operations research, especially networks;transportation science,car-following and road traffic;Ising-type models in mathematical physics;difference equations;and robotics. He was interested in computing from the early days of the computing revolution and oversaw the first computer purchases at the University of Adelaide.
Ralph Owen Slatyer was an Australian ecologist, and the first Chief Scientist of Australia from 1989 to 1992.
Bruce William Stillman,AO,FAA,FRS is a biochemist and cancer researcher who has served as the Director of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) since 1994 and President since 2003. He also served as the Director of its NCI-designated Cancer Center for 25 years from 1992 to 2016. During his leadership,CSHL has been ranked as the No. 1 institution in molecular biology and genetics research by Thomson Reuters. Stillman's research focuses on how chromosomes are duplicated in human cells and in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae;the mechanisms that ensure accurate inheritance of genetic material from one generation to the next;and how missteps in this process lead to cancer. For his accomplishments,Stillman has received numerous awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan,Jr. Prize in 2004 and the 2010 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize, both of which he shared with Thomas J. Kelly of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,as well as the 2019 Canada Gairdner International Award for biomedical research, which he shared with John Diffley.
