North State Symphony

The North State Symphony is an orchestra which is an amalgamation of the former Chico and Redding Symphonies in Northern California. [1] Its original conductor and musical director was Kyle Wiley Pickett, who stepped down at the conclusion of the 2013/2014 season. [2] The musicians include professionals from a wide geographic area, community members, university students and faculty members. [3]

It was announced on June 17, 2015, that the new Music Director of the North State Symphony is the award-winning conductor Scott Seaton. Seaton recently completed his third season as music director of the Minot Symphony Orchestra in North Dakota, where he conducted classical, family, education, and pops concerts and worked with internationally acclaimed guest artists. He has also served as assistant conductor of Festival Opera in Walnut Creek, Calif., and has held posts with the Kent State University Orchestra, the Lakeland Civic Orchestra, and the Nashville Youth Symphony, as well as other orchestral groups.

Andrew Litton is an American orchestral conductor. Litton is a graduate of The Fieldston School. He studied piano with Nadia Reisenberg and conducting with Sixten Ehrling at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, receiving his Bachelor of Music degree and his Master of Music degree from in piano and conducting. He also received lessons in conducting from Walter Weller at the Salzburg Mozarteum and Edoardo Müller in Milan. His early teachers included John DeMaio. The youngest-ever winner of the BBC International Conductors Competition in 1982, he served as Assistant Conductor at Teatro alla Scala and Exxon/Arts Endowment Assistant Conductor for the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C. under Mstislav Rostropovich (1982-1985), where subsequently he was Associate Conductor (1985-1986). John Neal Axelrod is an American conductor. Axelrod was elected Artistic and Musical Director of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville in 2014 and is Principal Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, "Giuseppe Verdi", also known as "LaVerdi". Between 2009 and 2013, Axelrod was Music Director of l'Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, based in Nantes and Angers, France; and from 2009 to 2011, Axelrod served as Music Director of "Hollywood In Vienna" Gala Concerts with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna. He has also served as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 2009, and from 2001 to 2009 as Principal Guest Conductor of Sinfonietta Cracovia.

The Pasadena Symphony and POPS is an American orchestra based in Pasadena, California. In 2010 it took up residence at the Ambassador Auditorium, where its Classics Series runs from October through April. Since 2012 it performs a summer series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden from June through September.
