The Norwegian Police Federation (Norwegian : Politiets Fellesforbund) is the trade union which organizes employees from all levels within the police force. [1] The federation is a member of the Confederation of Unions for Professionals, Norway [2] and the European Confederation of Police. [3] It is illegal for police officers to strike. [4] The organization was established in 1997. Arne Johannessen was head of the organisation from 2000 to May 2013. [5]

The Norwegian Police Service is the Norwegian national civilian police agency. The service dates to the 13th century when the first sheriffs were appointed, and the current structure established in 2003. It comprises a central National Police Directorate, seven specialty agencies and twelve police districts. The government agency is subordinate to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and has 16,000 employees, of which 8,000 are police officers. The 2011 Norway attacks, referred to in Norway as 22 July or as 22/7, were two domestic terrorist attacks by far right extremist Anders Behring Breivik against the government, the civilian population, and a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp, in which a total of 77 people were killed.

The 2011 Norway attacks were a bombing in Oslo and a series of shootings at Utøya on Friday, 22 July 2011. The first attack was a bomb exploding in Regjeringskvartalet, the executive government quarter of Oslo, and the second an attack on a youth camp organized by the youth organization (AUF) of the Norwegian Labour Party (AP) on the island of Utøya in Tyrifjorden, Buskerud.

The People's Movement Against Immigration is an organisation that works against immigration, based in Norway. The organisation was founded in 1987, and was initially led by Arne Myrdal who was later squeezed out due to his escalating and uncontrollable violent activism. The FMI sees itself as a nonpartisan interest organisation that works to "stop the foreign cultural mass immigration to Norway." According to their own political program, they seek to inform the public, political parties and politicians about the consequences of the mass immigration. The FMI were especially active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, gaining support of the national EU-resistance, but later, its activities and membership has been limited.

Arne Johan Andersen was a Norwegian football player for the club FK Kvik, and police officer. He was born in Halden. He played with the Norwegian national team at the Antwerp Olympics in 1920, where the Norwegian team reached the quarter-finals. He was capped six times for Norway, scoring four goals. During occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, he was arrested on 15 September 1944, and incarcerated at the Grini concentration camp from October 1944. He died in Halden in 1986.

Veton Berisha is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Molde in Eliteserien. His parents are from Kosovo and he is the younger brother of Valon Berisha. Berisha has represented Norway at every level from under-15 to full international level.

National Police Computing and Material Service is an agency of the Norwegian Police Service which has the responsibility for information and communications technology, procurement, security and real estate. Subordinate to the National Police Directorate, it was established in 2004.
