Novinky.cz is a Czech news website established in 1998. [1] As of 2008, it was the most visited news website in the country, along with the server iDnes. [2] As of 2010 and 2011, it was the most visited news server in the Czech Republic. [3] Novinky.cz is an online news magazine of the Czech daily Právo and a section of the internet portal Seznam.cz. 2010 Czech legislative election

Legislative elections in the Czech Republic took place on 28–29 May 2010 to elect the members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic. The election had been expected to take place sometime before the end of 2009, but was postponed due to legal challenges. Before the election, the country had been governed by a caretaker administration headed by Jan Fischer. The Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) was the front-runner of the election and its leader Jiří Paroubek was the favourite to become the new Prime Minister.

2018 Czech presidential election

Presidential elections were held in the Czech Republic in January 2018. The first round took place on 12 and 13 January. As no candidate won a majority, a run-off election between the top two candidates, Jiří Drahoš and President Miloš Zeman, was held on 26 and 27 January 2018.

2021 Czech legislative election Czech Republic election

Legislative elections were held in the Czech Republic on 8 and 9 October 2021. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected, with the leader of the resulting government to become the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Following the 2017 Czech legislative election, the country has been ruled by a minority government consisting of ANO 2011 (ANO), led by prime minister Andrej Babiš, and the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), led by interior minister Jan Hamáček, with confidence and supply support from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) until April 2021. The largest opposition party was the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), followed by the Czech Pirate Party. Other parties in the Chamber of Deputies included SPD, TOP 09, STAN, and KDU-ČSL.

A leadership election for the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) was held in 2018 following the 2017 legislative election. Jan Hamáček was elected the new leader of the party, defeating Jiří Zimola in the second round.

Next Czech presidential election

Presidential elections will be held in the Czech Republic no later than January 2023. The incumbent president Miloš Zeman is not eligible to run for another term, and the election will most likely be direct. There has been speculation that Zeman will not finish his second term.

2018 President of the Senate of the Czech Republic election

Election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 14 November 2018. It was held after 2018 Senate election. Civic Democratic Party nominated Jaroslav Kubera, Mayors and Independents nominated Jan Horník and Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party nominated Václav Hampl. Incumbent President Milan Štěch doesn't seek reelection. It was the first time in the history of the Senate that more than 2 candidates run for the position. Senate factions usually came to an agreement about the new President in the past.

The Czech political crisis in 2018 started, when Seznam News published an interview with the Andrej Babiš Jr., son of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Babiš Jr. stated that his father's people kidnapped him in Crimea and kept him there.

2020 KDU–ČSL leadership election

A leadership election for KDU-ČSL was held on 25 January 2020 following the resignation of the incumbent leader of the party Marek Výborný. MP Jan Bartošek, MP Marian Jurečka and MEP Tomáš Zdechovský announced were running to replace Výborný. Zdechovský withdrew from the race, and Jurečka then beat Bartošek, receiving 205 votes.

2019 Czech Lion Awards ceremony was held on 7 March 2020. It will be moderated by Václav Kopta. Nominations were announced on 15 January 2020. Owners received highest number of nominations. The Painted Bird then won in 9 categories including the Best film.

Elections to regional councils in the Czech Republic in 13 regions were held on 2–3 October 2020.

February 2020 President of the Senate of the Czech Republic election

Election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 19 February 2020 following death of incumbent President Jaroslav Kubera. Civic Democratic Party nominated Miloš Vystrčil for the position of the new Senate President while the Mayors and Independents nominated the acting President Jiří Růžička. Vystrčil won the election with 52 votes against Růžička's 21 votes.

2020 Teplice by-election

A by-election for the Teplice Senate seat in the Czech Republic was held in 2020, following the death of Jaroslav Kubera. The election, originally scheduled for 27 and 28 March 2020, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic. The first round was eventually held on 5 and 6 June 2020. Hynek Hanza received the highest number of votes and advanced to a runoff, in which he defeated Zdeněk Bergman and became the new Senator.

Roman Onderka Czech politician

Roman Onderka is a Czech politician who has served as the Mayor of Brno, and has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic since October 2017, and a vice chairman of the Czech Social Democratic Party since 2018. On 25 October 2021 he became acting leader of ČSSD when Jan Hamáček resigned on the position.
