The First Generation Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market (OGK-1) was a large Russian company formed by the merger of six electricity generation companies.

History

The company was established in 2005 by merging six power plants into one company. Before 1 July 2008, about 92% of the company's shares was owned by RAO UES, Russian state-controlled energy holding company. As a result of the electricity market reform, 43% of shares was transferred to the Federal Grid Company of Russia, 23% to RusHydro, and 34% was distributed to minority shareholders.

On March 17, 2009 the rights under 61,9% of voting shares were transferred to Inter RAO UES for 5 years with the right for extension for the same period. Starting from July 6, 2009 the powers of the sole executive body of OGK-1 were transferred to Inter RAO UES. [1] In 2012, OGK-1 was merged into Inter RAO.

The installed capacity of these power stations is about 9,500 MW. This comprises about 5.5% of the generating capacity of RAO UES.

The power output of the OGK-1 power plants in 2006 was around 48 TW.

OAO RAO UES was an electric power holding company in Russia. It controlled about 70% of Russia's installed electric capacity, 96% of its high-voltage grid and over 70% of its transmission lines. The HVDC Russia–Finland was a project to build a HVDC submarine power cable between Kernovo, Leningrad Oblast (Russia) and Mussalo, Kotka (Finland). The main purpose of this project was to export Russian nuclear energy to Sweden and Finland.

OGK-3 was a Russian power company. The stock was traded on the MICEX-RTS stock exchange.

Kuchurgan power station

Kuchurgan power station is the largest power station of Moldova, located in Dnestrovsc, Transnistria, on the shores of Lake Cuciurgani bordering Ukraine. It was commissioned on 26 September 1964 and produces about 83% of Moldova's electricity.

North-West Thermal Power Plant is a cogeneration power station (TETs) in Saint-Petersburg, owned by Inter RAO UES. This is a first power station in Russia to use combined cycle.

OAO FGC UES is a state-owned energy company located in Moscow, Russia. It is the country's largest transmission grid company. The company is listed at the Moscow and London stock exchanges with 80.13% of shares owned by Rosseti.

Beryozovskaya GRES

Beryozovskaya GRES is a coal-fired power plant near the town of Sharypovo in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. The power plant is owned by Unipro. The installed capacity of the plant is 1,600 megawatts (2,100,000 hp).

Sangtuda 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant Dam in Danghara District, Khatlon Province

Sangtuda 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectric power plant, located on the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan. Construction commenced during the Soviet period in the 1980s, but halted in the beginning of the 1990s due to lack of financing when the station was about 20% complete. An agreement with Russia allowed to restart the construction, with four units entering service in 2008–2009. The plant was officially commissioned on 31 July 2009. Once working at full capacity, the plant will provide around 12% of Tajikistan's electricity output.

Kashira Power Plant

Kashira Power Plant is a coal-fired power plant at Kashira in Moscow Oblast, Russia. Its first unit was commissioned in 1922 with a power capacity of 12 MW. As of today, it has an installed power capacity of 1,910 MW and a heating capacity of 533 MWt, and consists of 6 units. Double units 1 and 2 have capacity of 300 MW, and single units 4, 5 have capacity of 300 MW each, unit 6 has capacity of 330 MW. In addition, unit 7 has thermal capacity of 80 MW.

Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant

Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant is a natural gas-fired power plant in the north-western part of Hrazdan in Armenia. It is one of the largest power plants in Armenia. This power plant was built in 1963–1974, and the first unit became operational in 1966. In 2013, a new unit was added. Four older units of the plant are owned and operated by the Hrazdan Power Company, a subsidiary of Tashir Capital owned by the family of Samvel Karapetyan. The new fifth unit is owned and operated by Gazprom Armenia.

Sevan–Hrazdan Cascade is a complex of hydroelectric power plants on the Hrazdan River and its tributaries between the Lake Sevan and Yerevan in Armenia. They use irrigation water flow from the Lake Sevan and streams waters of Hrazdan River. The cascade is owned by the International Energy Corporation (IEC), a subsidiary of Tashir Group owned by Samvel Karapetyan.
