Dr. Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia commonly known as Olavo Correia, is a Cape Verdean politician. He currently serves as the deputy prime minister, and Minister of Finance of Cape Verde since May 2016. [8] In April 2022, Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia was named head of the board of governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID). It was at the end of the 20th ordinary general meeting of the board of governors held in Lomé that this appointment was made. He replaces in this post the Minister of Economy and Finance of Benin Romuald Wadagni. [9]
Politics of Cape Verde takes place in a framework of a semi-presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Cape Verde is the head of government and the President of the Republic of Cape Verde is the head of state, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the president and the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the National Assembly. José Maria Pereira Neves is a Cape Verdean politician who is currently the president of Cape Verde, having previously served as the Prime Minister of Cape Verde from 2001 to 2016. In the 2021 presidential election, he was elected with 51.7% of votes, beating his nearest rival Carlos Veiga who got 42.4% of the total votes.

The University of Cape Verde is the only public university of Cape Verde. The main campus is in Palmarejo, Praia, but there are also institutes in Mindelo, Assomada and São Jorge dos Órgãos. It has over 5000 students. A new campus for Uni-CV is under construction in Palmarejo, financed by the Chinese government. It should be completed by July 2020. It will have capacity for 4,890 students and 476 professors, with a library, dorms, cafeterias and sports facilities. It will have 61 class rooms, five auditoriums with a capacity of 150 seats, eight computer rooms, eight reading rooms and 34 laboratories.

He was Minister of Public Works in the government of Sá da Bandeira (1868-1869). He died in Viana do Castelo on 20 November 1899.
António Augusto Peixoto Correia was a Portuguese colonial administrator, military officer and politician. He was born 11 October 1913 in Vila Nova de Gaia, a suburb of Porto in northern Portugal. He was a navy officer, and was governor of the District of Huíla in Angola in 1955. Between 1957 and 1958, he was governor of Cape Verde. He succeeded Manuel Marques de Abrantes Amaral and was succeeded by Silvino Silvério Marques.
