Omar Daher Gadid (born 5 April 1966) is a Djiboutian long-distance athlete.
Gadid recognized as the first Djiboutian athlete to achieve victory in a half-marathon, marking a historic milestone for the country's athletics.[ citation needed ] He has competed at two Olympics, firstly at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona when he entered the 10,000 metres where he came in 25th in his heat so didn't qualify for the final, eight years later at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney he entered the marathon where he failed to finish the race. As a junior athlete he competed at the 1986 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. After participating at the 1993 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and 1993 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships he competed at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics, 1999 World Championships in Athletics, 2001 World Championships in Athletics and 2003 World Championships in Athletics. Gadid earned podium finishes at dozens of international road races, placing runner-up at the inaugural 1996 Lille Half Marathon. [4]
Gadid has a marathon personal best of 2:14:25 hours, set in 1996. He was invited as part of the international field in the 2002 Nagano Marathon. [5]
