Federico Maria Sardelli is an Italian conductor, historicist, composer, musicologist, and flautist. He founded the medieval ensemble Modo Antiquo in 1984. In 1987, Modo Antiquo also became a baroque orchestra, debuting with the performance of Jean-Baptiste Lully's Ballet des Saisons in front of an audience of about five thousand.

The University of Lucca was an Italian university located in Lucca (LU), Italy, established in 1785 by the government of the Republic of Lucca. The university disappearing for good in 1867. There had previously been several attempts in the medieval period to found a University of Lucca: On 6 June 1369 Emperor Charles IV granted Lucca a charter for the establishment of a Studium Generale, confirmed on 13 September 1387 by Pope Urban VI. No university was actually founded, but again in 1455 Gonfalonier Giovanni Gigli tried to raise funds for a university, but once more it did not result in an actual institution.

Enrico Crispolti was an Italian art critic, curator and art historian. From 1984 to 2005 he was professor of history of contemporary art at the Università degli Studi di Siena, and director of the school of specialisation in art history. He previously taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome (1966–1973) and at the Università degli Studi di Salerno (1973–1984). He was author of the catalogues raisonnés of the works of Enrico Baj, Lucio Fontana and Renato Guttuso. He died in Rome on 8 December 2018.
Monastero delle Murate is a former Benedictine convent on Via Ghibellina in Florence, Italy. For about a hundred years, from 1883 to 1985, it was the men's prison in Florence, after which the detainees were transferred to Sollicciano and other facilities. Since the 21st century, it has served as a restaurant and meeting places, with additional apartments, bars, restaurants and shops. The religious community dates to 1370 when 12 women became voluntarily reclusive in a shack by the second pillar of the Ponte Rubaconte, praying and living on alms in extremely difficult conditions. Given the growth in the number of sisters, in 1424, Giovanni de 'Benci, who lived nearby, financed the construction of a new, larger monastery near the walls, called the Most Holy Annunciation and St. Catherine. The monastery was renovated and expanded for the first time in 1471, following a fire, and then in 1571, after a flood. Supporters included Lorenzo de' Medici.
