Barenaked Ladies is a Canadian rock band formed in 1988 in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, Ontario. The band developed a following in Canada, with their self-titled 1991 cassette becoming the first independent release to be certified gold in Canada. They reached mainstream success in Canada when their debut with Reprise Records, Gordon, featuring the singles "If I Had $1000000" and "Brian Wilson", was released in 1992. The band's popularity subsequently spread into the US, beginning with versions of "Brian Wilson" and "The Old Apartment" off their 1996 live album Rock Spectacle, followed by their fourth studio album Stunt, their breakout success in 1998. The album featured their highest-charting hit, "One Week", as well as "It's All Been Done" and "Call and Answer". Their fifth album, Maroon, featuring the lead single "Pinch Me", also charted highly. In the 2010s the band became well-known for creating the theme song for the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
The Afghan Whigs are an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. They were active from 1986 to 2001 and have since reformed as a band. The group – with core members Greg Dulli, Rick McCollum, and John Curley (bass) – rose up around the grunge movement, evolving from a garage band in the vein of the Replacements to incorporate more R&B and soul influences into their sound and image. After releasing their first album independently in 1988, the band signed to the Seattle-based label Sub Pop. They released their major-label debut and fourth album, Gentlemen, in 1993. Pitchfork described them as "one of the few alt-bands to flourish on a major label" in the 1990s.

Corky and the Juice Pigs was a Canadian comedy musical group made up of Phil Nichol, Greg Neale, and Seán Cullen. Their output consisted mainly of original comedic songs, largely satirical and often parodying various musical styles.

Oh What a Feeling: A Vital Collection of Canadian Music is a 4-CD box set released in 1996 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Juno Awards. A second box set, Oh What a Feeling 2, was released in 2001 to mark the awards' 30th anniversary, and a third set, Oh What a Feeling 3, was released in 2006 for the 35th anniversary. All of the sets feature popular Canadian songs from the 1960s onward. The sets were titled for the song "Oh What a Feeling" by rock band Crowbar. The original 25th anniversary box set peaked at No. 3 on the Canadian Albums Chart and was certified Diamond in Canada.

The Juice Box is a low-cost multimedia player made by toy manufacturer Mattel. The player features a 2.7 in (6.9 cm) screen with a native resolution of 240×160 px and runs μClinux, a microcontroller version of the Linux kernel. It was made and released in November 2004, and was discontinued in early 2005. It has 66 MHz ARM7TDMI architecture Samsung processor S3C44B0, 2 MBytes or 8 MBytes of RAM and 8MB of ROM. It was marketed as a portable media player for children. The player only played a proprietary cartridge format. 4Kids Entertainment and Cartoon Network put some of their shows on cartridges. However, the small screen and poor quality alienated most people. Furthermore, the device entered a crowded market. Its rivals are the VideoNow and the Game Boy Advance, the GBA being the most potent. The difference is that GBA not only had TV shows, but could also play video games, as it was built for that. Thus many retail stores were left with a surplus of the device. Original retail price was about US$70.
Live in the X Lounge is a series of albums released by Birmingham, Alabama's former alternative rock radio station, WRAX.
Live X refers to concerts hosted by the Atlanta, Georgia-based radio station 99X, generally performed in an unplugged, acoustic style. Each year, a CD was released by 99X containing select tracks from many Live X concerts that occurred in the past year. All proceeds from the sales benefit the I Am 99X Foundation. The final edition, Live X 12, was released in 2007.

The Bridge School Collection, Vol. 1 is a downloadable audio collection of 80 selected acoustic performances, recorded between 1986 and 2006, from the Bridge School's Benefit Concerts. The 21 November 2006 iTunes distribution of the collection includes a digital booklet. All tracks are available for individual purchase except Neil Young's tracks which are by album only.

Indie 2000 was a series of alternative music compilations that enjoyed moderate success in Australia throughout the latter half of the 1990s. There were a total of nine volumes. The title was changed to simply Indie for volumes 8 and 9. The compilations consisted of popular alternative songs, a considerable amount of them being by Australian bands.

Released by Rhino Records in 2005, the box set was based on the success of Have a Nice Decade: The 70s Pop Culture Box, and Like Omigod! The 80s Pop Culture Box (Totally), Rhino's box sets covering the 1970s and 1980s respectively.
