Phoenix Hong Kong Channel is one of the six channels that Phoenix Television operates. It was launched on 28 March 2011 in order to serve Chinese viewers in Hong Kong,and it is Phoenix Television's first Yue Chinese-language channel that is available across Hong Kong. [1] This channel now broadcasts through cable television and satellite television systems. Some of its programmes still broadcasting in Mandarin Chinese. 97% of the company is owned by a single holder in Beijing Named Vivian Huo,managing director at H&H Capital Partners.
Television in Hong Kong is primarily in Cantonese and English. It is delivered through analogue and digital terrestrial,cable,IPTV,and the Internet. Satellite TV is not common,although many housing estates have dishes and re-distribute a limited number of free channels through coaxial cables. The dominant broadcaster is TVB and ViuTV.

The proposal sparked widespread controversy,met with fierce criticism in native Cantonese-speaking cities including Guangzhou and Hong Kong,which eventually triggered a mass protest in the former city. In a formal response,Guangzhou TV rejected the proposal,citing "historic causes and present demands" as reasons for Cantonese-Mandarin bilingualism.
The Guangdong National Language Regulations is a set of laws enacted by the Guangdong provincial government in the People's Republic of China in 2012 to promote the use of Standard Mandarin Chinese in broadcast and print media at the expense of the local standard Cantonese and other related dialects. It has also been labelled a "pro-Mandarin,anti-Cantonese" legislation (廢粵推普、推普廢粵). The law was signed and came into effect on 1 March 2012.
