Mist is an unincorporated community in Columbia County, Oregon, United States. Formerly called Riverside, the place was renamed in 1888 for the atmospheric conditions of the Nehalem Valley. The first land claims in the area had been made circa 1870. The original Riverside post office was closed in 1975.

The Oregonian Railway Company also had a station named Howell Prairie, which was changed to Switzerland in 1892.

Burnett for a Church of Christ in Missouri where he had served as pastor. Bethel is a common name for churches as it is a Hebrew word that means "house of god". After traveling with his family on the Oregon Trail, Burnett settled on a Donation Land Claim in 1846. Burnett later rode circuit to the surrounding area, preaching in nearby communities, including Rickreall.

It had a gas station, post office, grocery store, and a feed, seed and livery stable. The community still has a church and cemetery founded in 1896 located at 452 Hylo Rd SE.
