Presley Chweneyagae (born October 19, 1984), is a South African actor of Tswana origin. [2] He starred in the film Tsotsi , which won the Academy Award for Foreign Language Film at the 78th Academy Awards. [3] His mother, Agnes Keagile named him after her favourite singer, Elvis Presley.[ citation needed ] Although he had acted before in plays, Tsotsi was his first feature film. His most recent role is on the South African telenovela, The River as Thuso "Cobra" Mokoena. [4]

He has recently been focusing on stage plays and more films. His latest films include More Than Just a Game, State of Violence and Africa United . He is currently doing a play about Solomon Mahlangu, a former MK cadre who was hanged at the age of 22.

Tsotsi is a 2005 crime drama film written and directed by Gavin Hood and produced by Peter Fudakowski. It is an adaptation of the novel Tsotsi by Athol Fugard, and is a South African/UK co-production. Set in the Alexandra slum in Johannesburg, South Africa, it stars Presley Chweneyagae as David/Tsotsi, a young street thug who steals a car only to discover a baby in the back seat. It also features Kenneth Nkosi, Jerry Mofokeng, and Rapulana Seiphemo in supporting roles.

The River is a South African telenovela created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. It is an M-Net original production produced by Tshedza Pictures for DStv's general entertainment subscription channel 1Magic and is available for streaming on Naspers' subscription-based video-on-demand service Showmax. From 2019 reruns began airing on Mzansi Magic, broadcasting weekdays at 19:00, and other older reruns on Mzansi Wethu, broadcasting weekdays at 20:00 since 2021.
