The Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League is a Junior "C" ice hockey league in Prince Edward Island, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The league was known as the Prince Edward Island Minor Junior Hockey League until 2009.

The winner of the playoffs competes in the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championship.

Late in the 2023-24 season the league changed sponsors, welcoming a rebrand to the Township Chevrolet Jr Hockey League.

History

In 2015 the South Side Lynx won their first league championship and then proceeded to be the first PEI representative to advance to the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championship final game. In the championship game the Lynx played against the Baffin Blizzard with both teams vying to be the first team from their province/territory to claim a Maritime-Hockey North title. The Baffin Blizzard prevailed, winning 6–5.

After a one-year absence a Summerside team, now known as the Crunch, was announced as returning to the league for the 2016–17 season.

Sherwood Metros became the first PEI team to win the Maritime-Hockey North Championship in 2018. The Metros defeated South Side Lynx 4–1 in the final. [1]

In January 2019 the South Side Lynx ceased operations due to a lack of healthy players. The team posted a 5–13–0–2 record, last in the five-team league. [2] The team announced a return for 2020–21.

The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league under Hockey Canada, a part of the Canadian Junior Hockey League. It consists of six teams from New Brunswick, which make up the EastLink North Division, five teams from Nova Scotia, and one team from Prince Edward Island which make up the Eastlink South Division. The winner of the MHL playoffs competes for the Centennial Cup against the winners of the 8 other tier 2 junior A leagues across Canada. Prior to the pandemic the MHL champions would participate in the Fred Page Cup. This tournament involved the Bogart Cup champions from the CCHL(Ontario), the Kent Cup champions from the MHL(Maritimes) and the winner of the La Coupe Napa of the QJHL(Québec) as well as a pre determined host. The winner would move on to compete for the Canadian National Junior A Championship. However with the departure of the BCHL whom ended affiliation with the CJHL in March 2021 as well as Hockey Canada in June 2023 becoming an independent league. No Centennial Cup qualifying tournaments such as the Kent Cup have been played since 2022 and instead all the league champions have directly advanced to the Centennial Cup.

Consolidated Credit Union Place is a multi purpose facility that opened in two stages in April 2006 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It contains an aquatics centre, meeting and convention rooms, a fitness centre, two NHL size ice surface arenas, bowling lanes and an indoor walking track. The swimming portion consists of a 25 metre competition pool, pleasure pool, a water slide, a water mushroom, a hot tub, steam room, and sauna. There is also a conference centre over 4,000 square feet (370 m2) in size, and Iron Haven Gym, with two squash courts and weight lifting equipment. The second portion, the Arenas, were designed to replace Cahill Stadium and Steele Arena.

The Sherwood-Parkdale Metros were a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Sherwood, Prince Edward Island. They were one-time Centennial Cup National finalists.

The J. Pius Callaghan Cup is a trophy that was formerly given to the ice hockey Junior A Champion of Atlantic Canada from 1981 until 1991. The trophy is named for Joseph Pius Callaghan, sports writer for the Charlottetown Guardian, school teacher, and sports executive, by Hockey PEI. From 1991 until 2006, the trophy was awarded to the playoff champion of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. In 2006 it was retired and now resides in the Charlottetown Civic Centre.
