Baruah(also spelt as Baroa, Baruah, Barooa, Barooah, Baroova, Baroowa, Borooah, Baruva, Baruwa, Borooah, Borua, Boruah) is a common Assamese surname shared by the Assamese communities much like Aroras of Punjab.

Sonar Baran Pakhi is a 2016 Indian biographical film based on life of the Assamese folk singer Pratima Barua Pandey. The film was directed by Bobby Baruah Sarma. Sonar Baran Pakhi is the first Rajbangshi-language film. It was voted Best Feature Film at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
Amrit Pritam is a National Film Award winning sound designer and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, popularly known as the Oscar, as well as the Motion Picture Sound Editors.
