Pro-Natura International

Pro-Natura International (PNI) is an environmental and poverty alleviation NGO working in developing countries. Founded by Dr Marcello de Andrade in Brazil in 1985, it was internationalised in 1992 by French engineer Guy Reinaud following the Rio Conference. [1] [2]

PNI has specialised in the production and use of biochar, an agro-ecological technology for soil fertility and carbon sequestration.

The Group is present in 73 countries across all continents except Antarctica. Natura Cosméticos, the parent company, was founded in 1969 by Antônio Luiz Seabra and became a public company listed on São Paulo Stock Exchange in 2004. Currently the company is the largest Brazilian cosmetics company by revenue. In May 2019 Natura & Co announced that it had entered into definitive agreement to acquire Avon Products, Inc. The transaction was approved by Brazilian regulations authorities in the beginning of November 2019 and was completed in January 2020, making Natura & Co the 4th largest pure-play beauty company in the world.

Raden Ali Sastroamidjojo, more commonly known as Ali Sastroamidjojo, was an Indonesian politician, diplomat, lawyer, and statesman who served as the eighth and tenth Prime Minister of Indonesia, from 1953 until 1955, and again from 1956 until 1957. He also served as the Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1957 until 1960, the first Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, the first Indonesian Ambassador to Canada and the first Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico. In addition, he was also appointed chairman of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung, and also was the chairman of the Indonesian National Party (PNI), from 1960 until 1966.
