Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary is a Reformed seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. [3] [4] Joel R. Beeke was the president of Puritan Reformed from 1995 to 2023 and currently serves as the chancellor, while Adriaan C. Neele serves as the president and Gerald M. Bilkes as the vice president. Founded by the Heritage Reformed Congregations in 1995, Puritan Reformed is a graduate school that offers both masters' and doctoral degrees. All of its faculty subscribe to the Three Forms of Unity and the Westminster Standards. Since 1998, the Free Reformed Churches of North America (FRCNA) has sent its theological students to Puritan Reformed. [5]

International Campuses

Apart from the main campus in Grand Rapids, Puritan Reformed has five global extension campuses for the ThM degree in Africa (Pretoria, South Africa), Asia (Taipei, Taiwan), Europe (London, United Kingdom), the Middle East (Cairo, Egypt) and South America (São José dos Campos, Brazil). [6]

Accreditation

The state of Michigan has granted Puritan Reformed a degree-granting charter and has approved their degree offerings. Puritan Reformed offers six accredited degrees: the Master of Divinity (MDiv), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling (MABC), Master of Theology (ThM), Doctor of Ministry (DMin), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). [7]

In February 2014, Puritan Reformed became accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. [8]

The Master of Theology (ThM) degree program is also approved at the following five extension sites: Alexandria Governorate-Cairo Governorate, Egypt, London in United Kingdom, Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, Taipei City, Taiwan, and Pretoria, South Africa.

Research Centers

The Puritan Research Center began in conjunction with the Theological University of Apeldoorn in Netherlands to establish an associated combined doctoral program and to encourage research in Puritan studies. [9]

The Jonathan Edwards Center is part of international network centers dedicated to research, education, and publication on Jonathan Edwards and his context. The first Jonathan Edwards Center began at Yale University, and subsequently many such centers were planted in six continents. It was announced during the International Jonathan Edwards Conference at Yale University, on October 4, 2019, that Edwards Center-Midwest would be moving to Puritan Reformed.

The Center for Classical Reformed Systematic Theology was established in cooperation with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for postdoctoral research in Reformed systematic theology. [10]

The Geerhardus Vos Center was established at Puritan Reformed for the advancement and dissemination of research that advances the interrelationship and cross-fertilization of exegetical, biblical, and systematic theology in the context of Reformed epistemology.

Joel Robert Beeke is an American Reformed theologian who is a pastor in the Heritage Reformed Congregations and the chancellor of Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Under the oversight of the Heritage Reformed Congregations, Beeke helped found Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in 1995, where he served as president until he assumed the chancellorship in 2023. He teaches there as the professor of homiletics, systematic theology, and practical theology. Beeke has also taught as adjunct faculty at Reformed Theological Seminary and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary ; he was an adjunct professor of theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1993 to 1998; he lectured in homiletics at Westminster Seminary California in Escondido, California from 1995 to 2001; and he has lectured at dozens of seminaries around the world.

The Reformed Presbyterian Church in Taiwan was officially established in 1971 when the First Presbytery was formed as a result of the union of various conservative Presbyterian and Continental Reformed congregations planted by various missionary groups. Its origin could be traced back to the 1950s when the very first missionaries of those Presbyterian and Continental Reformed missionaries arrived in Taiwan.

Chad B. Van Dixhoorn, a Canadian-born theologian and historian, is the editor of the five-volume The Minutes and Papers of the Westminster Assembly: 1643-1652 published by Oxford University Press in 2012. In 2013 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in recognition of his work on the Westminster assembly. In 2014 Banner of Truth Trust published Van Dixhoorn's second work, Confessing the Faith: a reader's guide to the Westminster Confession of Faith.

The North American Reformed Seminary is a private online, non-profit, distance educational, Christian, reformed seminary whose mission states is "to educate the body of Christ completely free of charge." Spreading the Gospel and strengthening the church through this school is the goal of this seminary. As their goal is education rather than qualification, TNARS is not accredited.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Theological University of Apeldoorn</span>

The Theological University of Apeldoorn (TUA) is the Dutch theological university of the Christian Reformed Churches. More than 130 students study at the university in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The theological course lasts six years. The student is in the bachelor's program for the first three years. This has a more orientating character, and includes the languages Classic Greek and Koine Greek, Latin and Biblical Hebrew. In the three-year master's program that follows, further studies and specialization are discussed. The training is specifically aimed at educating pastors. Furthermore, one tries to keep together the reformed character of the faith and the church and the scientific level of the university. The syllabus consists of subjects such as ethics, apologetics, Old and New Testament, canonical studies, dogmatics, church history, church law and civil subjects.
